Le Déjeuner des Minet (1905-1906)

A young girl is given her breakfast of milk and a biscuit by an elderly woman. When her beribboned cat comes up, she shares the meal with her. Later, the cat sticks her paw into a glass of milk and licks it off.

In this era, you could tell who the star of a short comedy was by a simple trick: the film would end with a close-up of the lead actor. Here, it's the cat who gets the last shot.

It's certainly simple in its construction, with a still medium close-up of the young girl and her breakfast. It's a cute little film, sure to please cat fanciers and people who enjoy little girls being cute.
