00:00Let's go back first.
00:01I wanna talk about your background a little bit
00:03for anybody who hasn't followed you out there
00:05on the West Coast.
00:07You know, great start to your career so far,
00:084-0 in your pro MMA, all by finishes.
00:12You have a 7-0 amateur record,
00:14but you know, you have a bunch of different disciplines.
00:16Like, you know, everybody in MMA, of course,
00:18you have to train in different disciplines
00:20and make sure you're proficient in all of them,
00:22but you know, you've done that throughout your career.
00:24You had a great post on your social media
00:26about how, you know, you went from years of BJJ
00:28to wrestling to, you know, MMA and the stand-up games.
00:32So, you know, what has that been like for you
00:34over the years as you train
00:36throughout these different disciplines
00:37to now bring it all together
00:38and try to make this your career
00:40and, you know, be at your peak fighting form here
00:42at just 23 years old?
00:45Yeah, it's been good.
00:48It's been a good journey.
00:49You know, it's always been my dream
00:50to be the UFC world champion,
00:53and in order to do that, you know,
00:56you got to be good in every aspect of MMA.
00:59And yeah, it's just, it's been really good,
01:03a really good journey,
01:04and I think it's helped me a lot, you know, in my life.
01:07It's helped me a lot mentally.
01:09It's just, it's a very spiritual thing.
01:12So I just, I love what I do.
01:16Obviously, there's a big part of the mental of combat sports
01:20and, you know, when you're going through
01:22all these different disciplines,
01:24the big thing of that is the people
01:25that help get you there,
01:27and you also have a big, you know, love of your coach
01:29that you put out there on social media as well
01:31about how, you know, he basically helped save you,
01:34that you, at 18 years old, were in a bad place,
01:37you know, that you were living on the streets,
01:39that you were, you know, having your life ruined by drugs
01:42and, you know, the things that they were doing to you,
01:44and that he was there for you,
01:46never gave up on you and pushed you to be where you are now.
01:49Talk about that relationship,
01:50how big that has been for you to get you where you are now
01:53and how important it is to keep you on the right path
01:56as you try to reach that career goal
01:57that you just laid out for us.
02:00Yeah, my coach Sam Mason, I can relate to him a lot
02:03because he grew up in the same area as I did
02:06and we've kind of had like similar backgrounds and stuff.
02:09And I think he's just, he's just been a great help to me.
02:13He's always helped me with everything.
02:16And, you know, he just, he just motivates me so much.
02:20He's a strong dude.
02:22He drives all the way from Newport to Moreno Valley
02:26every day to come train us.
02:27And, you know, he's going through a lot right now,
02:31physically, like he got really sick.
02:35He actually, he had a heart attack recently
02:37and almost passed away.
02:39But, you know, like two, three weeks later,
02:42he's already back in the gym training us again.
02:44Like he gives us, he gives us his all,
02:48you know what I mean?
02:49And like, he's helped me so much in my life.
02:51Like when I was in a bad area and he taught me,
02:55like my striking game has evolved so much being with him.
03:00And, you know, he's just, he's just,
03:01he's going to make me the best fighter in the world.
03:03And, you know, just by him being a good example for me,
03:07he's already doing that.
