00:00The National Price Coordinating Council has recommended that the Agriculture Department declare a food security emergency on rice.

00:09With the help of this, the NFA can release a ton of buffer stock to lower the price in the market.

00:21DTI tried to talk to the manufacturers, but the high price of 63 products in February cannot be stopped.

00:29This includes several brands of sardines, coffee, milk, even candles and batteries.

00:44According to the Department of Trade and Industry, 63 products will increase their prices by the end of February.

01:06So the price increase is just very minimal.

01:09DTI will release a new Suggested Retail Price Guide in February.

01:14Earlier, DTI and the Agriculture Department visited the farmers in Pasig.

01:18The price of rice is stable.

01:22In the past, it was P58, now it's P53.

01:26They sell it for P5.

01:28For example, if they can get a low price, they will sell it at a low price.

01:33Yesterday, P40 of 25% broken rice was sold at a price of P38 per kilo

01:39under the Rice for All program of the DA.

01:42On Monday, P58 per kilo of maximum SRP will be implemented

01:47for 5% broken imported rice to families in Metro Manila.

01:51It can still be lowered next week based on their assessment.

01:56Just to clarify, the violation of the price ceiling is P5,000 to P1,000,000.

02:06Another thing is the release of 300,000 metric tons of buffer stock of NFA rice to the market to lower the price.

02:21The NFA should do something if the DA declares a food security emergency for rice.

02:27Based on the Rice Clarification Law,

02:30it can be done if there is a shortage of supply or if the price is too high.

02:35This was recommended by the National Price Coordinating Council.

02:38Locally produced rice will be replaced with buffer stock to support Filipino farmers.

02:44Once it comes to my table, the chances is we will declare to release the stocks of NFA.
