Joe Buck takes a look at all the latest Newcastle United transfer news amid rumours that Miguel Almiron and Lloyd Kelly could be allowed to leave the club this month.

00:00So, we're now over two weeks into the January transfer window and as a time of recording
00:05you can see I have completed just a couple of deals in terms of player exits. Isaac Hayden
00:11of course joined Portsmouth on loan and you can confirm they extended Joe White's loan
00:16at MK Don's. But other than that, there's not been too much on the transfer front but
00:21this week could be key. I think there's a couple of deals working on the background
00:24that if they can work on them, if they can get one or two of them done then maybe that
00:28could unlock a potential for them to go sign someone for the rest of the window.
00:32Them two deals I'm talking about of course, Miguel Almaron and Lloyd Kelly. First we'll
00:36talk about Almaron, he's been linked with a move back to the MLS. Charlotte Essie will
00:39link with him in the summer but it seems they're going to move down a different direction.
00:44But Almaron's still being linked with the MLS because Atalanta United apparently are
00:48one to watch in this. David Osteen on Wednesday night brought the news that Newcastle were
00:53in advanced talks with Atalanta over a potential move for Almaron with a fee of about £10
00:58million. So not anywhere near what they paid for him, of course they paid £21 million
01:02for Almaron from Atalanta back in 2019. But any sort of fee, especially around the £10
01:08million mark, could unlock their potential to go and get a player either in this month
01:13or certainly in summer. That'll just help them on their balance sheets for the future.
01:18And of course Lloyd Kelly has been linked with a move to Turkey. Fenerbahce are the
01:21ones linked with his signing, obviously managed by Jose Mourinho. That one's I think a little
01:26bit less likely to happen. Of course Kelly joined the club for free in summer. And whilst
01:31getting any money for someone that they signed for free in summer would be a brilliant bit
01:34of business, Kelly is a good backup right now for centre-back and left-back. Matt Target
01:41is back, of course, and Sven Bottman and Tomato Sells will come back. So there's positives
01:45and negatives to his sale, but I'd be surprised if that one happens. But you never know. If
01:48they can get an offer that's too good to turn down, as they will with anyone in the squad,
01:51then they won't turn it down. Eddie Howe was asked yesterday after the Wolves match
01:56about whether he knew anything about Kelly and Almiron deals, and of course he was coy.
02:00He said he didn't know anything about any of them. He was just preparing for football.
02:02So it's all on Paul Mitchell to see what happens. But as I said, it could be a crucial league
02:05and if one or two of them deals get sanctioned, then Newcastle could be busy towards the end
02:09of the window. But if that doesn't happen, we don't expect Newcastle United to sign anyone
02:12this month.
