00:00There is a saying that the right decision taken by you will take you to the heights of success.
00:06Today, we are going to introduce you to a young person from Kanpur who has not only established himself but is also providing free of cost education to 300 children.
00:17He is providing all the necessary things like education, dressing, etc.
00:25He is running an organization called Gurukulam which provides free of cost education to all the children.
00:31Today, we have with us the founder of Gurukulam, Uddesh Sachan, who has not only established himself but is also taking 300 children to the heights of success.
00:45Let's meet Uddesh and find out how he started his journey and what all difficulties he faced.
00:54Uddesh, first of all, welcome to ETV.
00:56How did you start your journey and what are the challenges you faced?
01:02I belong to a lower class family. My father is a tailor and my mother is a housewife.
01:08When I was studying in the third grade, the school fees was essential.
01:13My mother was sick at that time and I was expelled from the school.
01:16So, an incident occurred in my mind that I was being expelled from the school because I did not pay the fees.
01:21I was in that phase and when I grew up, I realized that the syllabus I taught in school was not helping me in my life.
01:29And then I did some small work and realized that I did not have the skills.
01:34I realized that there are many children like me who are wandering around because of the fees and lack of skills.
01:42So, I realized that school is something that brings change in the lives of children.
01:47Then I wanted to open a school where I could teach philosophy, psychology and skills to children.
01:53It was a little difficult in the beginning, but when I got an idea, I started from the bottom of a tree.
01:57I struggled a little and today I have my own school where I have 300 students.
02:01What do you think, when you started your journey, there must have been a lot of financial issues.
02:08How did you maintain those financial issues?
02:10You said that you started your journey from the bottom of a tree and today you have your own school where you have 300 students.
02:17So, how is your education being provided to them?
02:20And did you get any kind of motivation from any NGO or organization?
02:24Financially, every job requires money.
02:27So, there was a lot of struggle in the beginning.
02:29At home, my mother gave me 250 rupees.
02:31So, I got a banner and kept promoting.
02:34So, people kept joining and kids kept joining.
02:36Then my work became viral on social media.
02:38There are a lot of good people in the world.
02:40The world is not parallel to you.
02:41There are good people and there are very few good people.
02:43So, the good people gave us some donations.
02:45With the help of which our school is running very easily.
02:48People send some money, some people send copies of books, some people send clothes.
02:52Whosoever feels good, the school runs easily.
02:55You named it as Gurukulam.
02:57Yes, yes.
02:58So, how did you name it Gurukulam?
02:59Gurukulam is that the education system of today is based on the rules of the school and everything is in English.
03:04So, we wanted that the education system of Gurukulam should be taught to the kids.
03:09But if we apply for Gurukulam now, it will become a little old.
03:12There should be both English and Gurukulam.
03:14So, we named it as Gurukulam.
03:16If there is subscription, it will be good.
03:17So that we can live in a modern way and we don't lose our culture.
03:21So, let's talk about this board.
03:23From which class to which class?
03:25Now, we have kids from PGC to RATE.
03:28And we will gradually increase those kids.
03:30And for the boards, we will give support to other schools.
03:33So that our kids' education will come.
03:34So, this means that the system is registered.
03:37Yes, registered.
03:38So, the kids who are coming in this, do you only give them education or are there any other teachers with you?
03:44I have hired 5 teachers.
03:45Because it is very difficult to teach 300 kids in a year.
03:47Then there will be a formality.
03:48So, 5 teachers who are given a proper salary, they teach them.
03:51So, you give them salary from your side.
03:53Yes, yes.
03:54I have it.
03:55Some people give donations.
03:56I manage it.
03:57I give it to everyone.
03:58So, let's talk about this board.
03:59So, what are you teaching the kids?
04:00So, tell us about some of the skills that the kids are learning.
04:03So, normally, the kids were roaming around like this and playing properly.
04:09But now the kids are learning music in school.
04:11They are learning to dance.
04:12And playing the flute.
04:14Some kids know how to play the harmonium.
04:16They have come a lot in cricket and sports.
04:18And after this, they are learning some soft skills like computer.
04:21So, they have not left anything behind.
04:22They are coming forward in every field.
04:24So, do we organize any competition in which the kids participate or show their talent?
04:29Right now, at the school level, we get kids from other schools to compete.
04:34So, the kids get an atmosphere.
04:36They see the kids from the big school.
04:37They compete with them.
04:38So, their morale increases automatically.
04:40So, right now, little by little.
04:41But in the future, there will be a lot of competition.
04:44And the kids will get a level.
04:45They will get a stage.
04:46When you started the journey, how many kids came and how did you collect them?
04:50When you started, you thought that if you are teaching for free, a lot of kids will come.
04:53But only 5 kids came.
04:55But those 5 kids stayed for 6 months.
04:57Then from 5 to 10, COVID came.
04:59So, things were bad for people.
05:01But poverty increased.
05:03So, people started business with me.
05:05So, from 5 to 10, 10 to 20, 20 to 70.
05:08So, I used to manage alone.
05:09And it was easy.
05:10Talking about parents, there must have been a lot of issues.
05:13Because somewhere in the mind of the parents, no matter how much they are satisfied.
05:17But in the mind, there are some money issues.
05:19So, how did you connect the parents?
05:21And how did you make them understand that in today's time, education is very important.
05:24So, parents, a lot of guardians didn't believe that they should teach for free.
05:28They used to say, today you are teaching, tomorrow you will take money.
05:30Something or the other happened.
05:31It's been 5 years.
05:32But some guardians showed belief.
05:35They sent their 5 to 10 kids.
05:36We worked on those 5 to 10 kids.
05:38When they saw that the kid who was selling garbage is speaking in English.
05:41So, the rest who were with them, their morale increased.
05:44Then they started sending them together.
05:46No, okay, teach.
05:47Then, once we give something in return, it has an impact on the outcome.
05:50Gradually, the kids started coming.
05:51Today, the parents are supportive.
05:53There are some parents who do negativity.
05:55And we handle them too.
05:56Talking about the kids coming to you.
05:58What kind of kids are they?
06:00Where are they from?
06:01How are the kids coming?
06:02The kids who are coming, at least 50 of them are from Joggi Basti.
06:05The kids from nearby villages are coming.
06:08So, you have a facility to take them too.
06:10Yes, I have set up a van for the kids.
06:11They come and go comfortably in the van.
06:12There is no charge for them.
06:13Okay.
06:14What message would you like to give to the youth?
06:16You are doing a good job.
06:17You are spreading a good message in the society.
06:19What message would you like to give to them?
06:21For the youth, live your life with happiness.
06:24Don't worry too much.
06:25Develop a skill.
06:26Work on it.
06:27And life is one-time.
06:29There is no need to make a fuss about it.
06:32Just live your life as it is for now.
06:36If we talk about it.
06:37There was a question from Uttar Pradesh.
06:39If today's youth is totally connected to social media.
06:44So, if you want to save yourself from it.
06:46And if you want to get involved in social activities.
06:48Or if a youth wants to get involved with you.
06:50So, how can he get involved with you?
06:52First of all, don't get involved with social media.
06:54You have to use the impact of social media.
06:57There are two aspects.
06:58One, it puts a negative in your mind.
07:00Another, it has a positive impact.
07:01So, hold on to the positive.
07:02And work accordingly.
07:03And those who want to get involved with us.
07:05So, come and meet the kids.
07:07And if you want to work in the field.
07:09You can teach the kids.
07:10And wherever you can teach the kids.
07:12I will support you from my side.
07:14How much peace do you get after doing this work?
07:16This work has become my soul.
07:18So, there is peace.
07:19There is always peace.
07:20There is no problem.
07:21Life is going very well.
07:23What is the plan for the future?
07:24We have made a vision for the future.
07:26There are 300 students in this school.
07:27We will teach 30000 in the future.
07:28So, slowly, slowly, slowly.
07:29We are working on this.
07:30We will take it till 12th.
07:32Yes, after 12th.
07:33As good as we can take it.
07:34Everything will come.
07:36Thank you, Uddesh.
07:37Uddesh Sachan was with us.
07:39He clearly said that.
07:40This journey of his.
07:41He was struggling a lot.
07:43The financial issues that came in this.
07:45He was the biggest in his success.
07:47He said to the youth.
07:49No work is small or big.
07:51You just do that work with your hard work.
07:53If not today.
07:54Then after two days.
07:55You will definitely succeed in that work.
