A look to what BCFC could return this season.

00:00Charlie, looking at Birmingham City and let's just touch on the EFL trophy, obviously they've
00:06progressed in the FA Cup as well with an amazing tie against Newcastle at St Andrews, but in
00:12terms of other trophies, I mean, it's a sort of season that Blues will certainly be focusing
00:18on League One and getting promotion, but if they can go far in a trophy and maybe reach
00:24the higher ends of the FA Cup or the EFL trophy, of course, it would be quite incredible for
00:29the fans as well to just see that, you know, progression under these new owners. Let's
00:35start with the EFL trophy. It's obviously a competition that doesn't get much of a looking
00:38outside the championship. I mean, they're in a good position. Could they go on and win
00:45that as well if they are to win League One? And it would be quite brilliant for the club.
00:49What do you sort of think their approach should be to this competition?
00:52Yeah, as you say, it's not a high reputation competition, but it will be silverware nonetheless
00:58if they can go and win it. And they are the favourites to do just that. Basing Swindon
01:02Town in the third round, a decent performance there, a very late winner. It was a very good
01:08performance as well from Ayumu Yokoyama, the young Japanese winger. Hasn't really had much
01:12of a look in so far on the Chris Davies, but in this competition, he seems to shine. Goals
01:17and assists galore and a very good finish as well to open the scoring in that game at
01:22Swindon.
01:23We're halfway into the quarterfinals now. The draw hasn't taken place just yet, but
01:28Birmingham will be looking forward to that match. As I say, they are the favourites for
01:31the competition. The teams remaining in it are the likes of Cheltenham, Bolton, Rotherham,
01:36Bradford and Peterborough. Wrexham still to play, still to discover whether they will
01:40be in that quarterfinal stage. But if he gets the final, you get to play at Wembley, which
01:46I think would be such an amazing day out for Birmingham fans. Myself as well as a reporter
01:51being there, I think it'd be great to see such a big club that hasn't been in this position
01:54for well, since a decade since they were in the Carabao Cup final. So I think it's very
02:00good for morale, as I say, that in line with the promotion to the championship, which is
02:04boosting so much at St Andrews and you get the belief back that they can get back to
02:08the big time in the Premier League.
02:10Yeah, and just on the League One promotion race, it's obviously a real talking point.
02:17You know, Wickham are up there as well and the playoff race is fairly tight with the
02:21top six. I mean, just on that game, they are going to meet at Wrexham in a couple of weeks'
02:28time. It's a massive occasion and Birmingham winning the reverse fixture, which was so
02:32big at the time as well. So much attention around that game with the likes of David Beckham,
02:36for example. I mean, this is a huge game and what do you sort of see coming out of this one?
02:42Birmingham fans will be expecting another win, completing a double over Wrexham.
02:45Obviously, it seems to be the big rivalry, at least on the Hollywood end of things. So
02:49lots of anticipation and excitement around that. The television crews will be very much
02:54in attendance once again. We'll have to see which Hollywood and ace-style guests are in
02:58attendance. But in terms of footballing sense, Birmingham would love to get an advantage.
03:02They've still got the games in hand and they can really make the gap insurmountable if
03:06they get a win at the racecourse.
