Seven weeks on from the bungled roll-out of Canberra's new public transport ticketing system, many users say they're still struggling with it. MyWay+ was meant to simplify travel around the capital. And while the core functions of the system are now working, public transport advocates say the upgrade still leaves much to be desired.

00:16And I don't particularly like all my details out all over the line just to catch a bus.

00:23The new MyPlus one, I don't like it.
00:26There's no way that what was launched in November was a product of listening to the experience of users who were testing the system.
00:33Because we know that they were telling Transport Canberra that the system wasn't working as expected.
00:37The Public Transport Association says most problems seen at launch,
00:41with key functions like tapping on and off with a credit, debit or physical MyWayPlus card,
00:46do seem to have been resolved.
00:49But the app and website's accessibility and functions,
00:52like a journey planner in the Android version that doesn't prioritise public transport,
00:57don't cut the mustard.
00:59So the first option, take your motorbike, of course, which everyone has, for 15 minutes.
01:03You can drive your car, you can ride your bike, you can walk, and then taxi.
01:08It doesn't even tell you to ride a bus in any of these options.
01:11We would strongly advise Transport Canberra against launching features that don't work properly.
01:16I think that they were up to scratch for what we intended them to be on day one,
01:19and we always committed to continue to improve things.
01:22Transport Canberra says many issues,
01:24like making public transport a default option in the journey planner on the iPhone,
01:29have since been fixed with updates.
01:31And further improvements, like on-board audio announcements, are also imminent.
01:36We'll be trialling the audio on buses over the next week or two,
01:39and then switching it on on all buses.
01:41We'll be doing that with other functions as well.
01:43The hiatus on fees for forgetting to tap off will also soon come to an end.
01:48Meanwhile, negotiations are underway with the major supermarkets to stock MyWay Plus travel cards.
