00:00A man has been taken to hospital in a stable condition following a landslide that occurred
00:07on Point Nepean Road here in Macray on Victoria's busy Mornington Peninsula just before nine
00:12o'clock this morning.
00:13The landslide caused the property to fall that sustained significant damage.
00:17It fell into the backyard of another property.
00:20Now emergency services are scrambling to stabilize properties in the area.
00:24About a dozen properties nearby have been evacuated.
00:27We just heard from Incident Controller Mark Dorr a short time ago, here's what he had
00:31to say.
00:32We've started to evacuate all the houses around them at the moment, just in an exclusion zone.
00:38We've got some geotechs coming down to establish what's going on and what potential for further
00:44collapse there is.
00:46At the moment we're unsure.
00:48This is a popular tourist hotspot in Victoria, lots of tourists and holidaymakers on the
00:52beach that liken the sound of that house collapsing to an almighty thud, like a truck offloading
00:57a whole bunch of gravel.
00:58Here's what one told me a short time ago.
01:01My place is only 600 metres up the road, I am on the side of the hill, but it's been
01:05flattened out.
01:06It's nothing like this.
01:07I've got lovely views and I hate to think my house will fall over.
01:12WorkSafe has just arrived on site as they work to determine what caused this collapse
01:16on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula and they're bracing for a long afternoon and night ahead.
