A 13-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder over a stabbing in Brisbane’s west. Police allege the teenager stabbed a Coles worker in the back at a shopping centre yesterday evening.

00:00Police were called to the Emanto Central Shopping Centre behind me at about 5.30 yesterday afternoon
00:09to report a woman had suffered serious stab wounds.
00:13When they arrived, they found a 13-year-old boy who had been apprehended by members of
00:19the public and security guards at the shopping centre.
00:22Police say the 63-year-old Collingwood Park woman was working at Coles when she was allegedly
00:28stabbed by the 13-year-old in what they say was a random attack.
00:34They're currently investigating the circumstances of what happened but have charged the boy
00:39with attempted murder.
00:41He's set to appear in the Ipswich Children's Courts today.
00:44As a result of the incident, police say they're boosting patrols across Ipswich at shopping
00:49centres like the one behind me to ensure public confidence in what they do.
00:54Now a Coles spokesperson has told the ABC that their thoughts are with the employee
00:59who was affected and that they're offering support to her and her family as well as her
01:05colleagues at the store.
