00:19I have been looking forward to this first meeting of mine, which is the first press
00:24conference after I have taken over as Chief of Army Staff.
00:28So through you, I would like to wish all the countrymen a very Happy New Year, Happy
00:35Lodi, in advance, Happy Veterans Day and Happy Army Day.
00:41As you are away, you are a vital channel between Army and the citizens and your progressive
00:52and constructive reporting helps in showcasing the Indian Army in the correct perspective.
01:00I am a strong proponent of the theme that mass media and security forces have great
01:10potential to converge together towards nation building and national security.
01:17So let me adopt your modus operandi and straight away come to the bottom line up front.
01:27That is what is my mission statement.
01:30And that is to ensure full spectrum of preparedness while concurrently transforming Indian Army
01:41into an aatmanirbha future ready force to be a relevant and key pillar of the national
01:49security apparatus that also contributes meaningfully towards the nation building.
01:57And towards that our lines of effort as regards the developed nation by 2047 are truly aligned.
02:06In that we emerge as the net security provider for the entire nation.
02:18So I will first dwell upon few security issues and to begin with the northern borders.
02:24As you are aware the situation is sensitive but stable.
02:30In October 2024 situation in Debsang and Demchowk in eastern Ladakh got resolved.
02:38The patrolling to traditional areas in these two sub-sectors has commenced.
02:42Similarly the traditional grazing has also commenced in these two areas.
02:48We shall continue to discuss the effective management of other sensitive areas also along
02:52the northern borders.
02:54And towards that end I have authorised all my co-commanders to handle these issues at
03:00the ground level with respect to patrolling and grazing so that these trivial issues can
03:06be resolved at the military level itself.
03:10Own deployment along LSA is balanced and robust.
03:13We are well poised to deal with any situation.
03:18A focused capability development for northern borders enabled infusion of niche technology
03:24into our war fighting system and a whole of nation approach we are progressing well.
03:38Coming on to GNK, situation is firmly under control.
03:43A line of control ceasefire which is effective from Feb 2021 after the DGMO's understanding
03:51is holding on.
03:52However the terror infrastructure across remains intact.
03:58Infiltration attempts continue including from the IB sector or so many other avenues which
04:04are available along with drone attempts to smuggle warlike stores and narcotics.
04:11In recent months, increased terrorist activities was seen in North Kashmir and Doda Kishtwar
04:19belt.
04:21Our city grid there has been reinvigorated and tempo of kinetic ops has been enhanced.
04:28Past year 60% of terrorists eliminated were of Pakistan origin.
04:36As of today, whatever is remnant in the valley and Jammu area, we feel that around 80% or
04:45more are from Pakistan origin.
04:48Overall, violence parameters under control, tourism, development activities, Amarnath
04:55Yatra where we witnessed more than 500,000 pilgrims this time and peaceful.
