00:00Hi, I'm Michelle Walsh.
00:08And I'm Lindsay Yutes.
00:09And together we directed Prime Minister.
00:12This is a once-in-a-lifetime film to have this kind of access to a world leader during
00:17the five years that Jacinda spent in office.
00:22We had so much good material to look at and evaluate.
00:26It was an embarrassment of riches.
00:28Not only the incredibly intimate footage that Clark, her husband, captured, but also
00:33these classified audio diaries that gave us a glimpse into what she was feeling in the
00:38moment during her time in office.
00:42Watching Jacinda first-hand lead a country through these extraordinary events in the
00:46way that she did felt so profound to me.
00:49The way she walked into a room and unapologetically led from her beliefs and what was really important
00:54to her, humanizing people, empathy, kindness.
00:58It was something that I had never seen before.
01:00And the opportunity to bring this to the world and let other people see what leadership can
01:04look like under pressure was such an exciting opportunity.
01:08We hadn't quite finished the film when Trump was re-elected.
01:12And I think for all of us, we realized in that moment that this was needed more now
01:18than ever.
01:20I think this film asks of our audiences what can we expect of our leaders going into a
01:25future where we have communities that are deeply fractured.
01:29To have this film premiere at Sundance is such an honor, and it's the perfect place
01:35to launch this movie into the world.
