00:00Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
00:02You had an interaction with Dr. SJ Shankar.
00:05How was the interaction?
00:07The interaction was actually great.
00:09I have learned a lot.
00:10I think the minister actually welcomed us into his world and all of India in general.
00:16The stories we've heard and his hope for the future of India and the world,
00:20it's truly life-changing.
00:22The lessons I'm bringing home in the Philippines out of this interaction,
00:26I think I'm going home as a changed person
00:29because it really reshaped the way I see the world and my place in it.
00:34This is your first time to India?
00:36It is my first time in India.
00:38The experience of India itself, it's a beautiful chaos.
00:42The food, the culture, the heritage, and honestly just the warmth of the people.
00:47Every moment felt alive, so I'm loving it so far.
00:52Sir, can you introduce yourself, please?
00:54Yes, my name is Jesse Heinricher.
00:56I'm a PhD student at MIT.
00:58I study material science.
01:00How was the interaction with the external affairs minister?
01:02You just had a moment with him.
01:05How was the interaction?
01:07He was very generous with his time.
01:08We were very appreciative to be able to participate today.
01:11He had a lot of things to say on the state of India
01:15and its relationship to the world as well as regionally.
01:19He was all around very generous
01:21and had a very positive outlook on India's position in the world.
01:25Is this your first time to India?
01:27Yes, this is my first time.
01:28How was the India experience?
01:29I love it. It's been incredible.
01:31I read about India so often on the news and it's developing,
01:34but I didn't know so many specifics.
01:37There's been such a wonderful cultural interaction here in India
01:41and we've learned so much and we've met with so many wonderful people.
01:44The hospitality we've experienced has been like nothing I've ever experienced.
01:47I have such a positive impression of India.
01:49It's been the trip of a lifetime to be here.
01:52Thank you so much.
01:55We'll try our best.
02:00Can you introduce yourself please?
02:02Yes, my name is Carla Paula Beltran Rojas.
02:04I'm from Colombia and the U.S.
02:06What are you pursuing in the U.S.?
02:09Yes, I'm currently pursuing my MBA at MIT Sloan School of Management.
02:14We had an interaction with Dr. S.J. Shankar.
02:16How was the interaction? What did you all make?
02:36Is this your first time to India?
02:37Yes, yes it is.
02:38How has been the experience of participating in the Diaspora of India?
02:47It's been excellent.
02:48I feel very fortunate that the dates aligned since this is my first visit
02:52to be able to also see the diaspora come together and the celebration behind it.
02:57I've always wanted to come visit.
02:59I think it's one of our prominent global powers
03:02and I think there's a lot of exciting innovation coming out of India.
03:06We were able to meet with some computer engineering students yesterday.
03:09We saw excellent work.
03:11There's clearly a lot of passion and promise coming out of the country.
03:14So definitely want to keep close ties with the country.
03:25Can you introduce yourself please?
03:26Yes, my name is Kailash.
03:27I'm from Nepal.
03:28I'm currently studying international development at Harvard
03:32and I'm studying MBA at MIT.
03:35Great, so you had an interaction with the organization.
03:37Yes.
03:38What did you all talk about?
03:40Yeah, it was really, I think, interesting
03:43and we've learned a lot about India's sort of focus on neighborhood first policies,
03:48strategic autonomy, right?
03:51Where India has an idea of what they want to do
03:54and how other people want to support them, right?
03:56So it was great.
03:58I had the chance to ask the question in the context of
04:01how that plays into the way they see neighboring nations, right?
04:04As India tries to get global as an economy.
04:07And he seemed to really feel like, you know,
04:11strongly about the importance of continuing the relations with neighboring nations
04:15and talked about sort of supporting energy security
04:20or sort of a disaster response.
04:22And I feel that's something, I think this is really where like neighboring nations,
04:27like Nepal, for example,
04:28my country can really take advantage of the fact that
04:32India is making investments into going forward
04:34and how can we really work together to strengthen the bilateral relationships.
04:40Is this your first time to India?
04:42No, it's not my first time to India,
04:44but it's my first time seeing India from this perspective,
04:48being able to have a chance to talk to union ministers
04:52and listen to what they have to say, their perspectives.
04:55We've had a chance to meet ministers, like founders of companies.
