00:00This has been just a week like living in a war zone here in L.A.
00:07This is the worst fire, or I should say fires,
00:11Pacific Palisades alone is the worst single fire in the history of Los Angeles.
00:16Thousands of homes, we now know that.
00:18You can see all of that, it may look like an open field at this point, those were all homes.
00:23And this stretches from here, about another mile down to the ocean,
00:28then up the coast to Malibu, and it is today, finally, the wind had died down last night.
00:35But it's going to pick up again, and it's picking up again today.
00:37So this is the first time we're seeing the full scope of the devastation, and it is...
00:41It's just cataclysmic, and like I said, thousands of homes lost.
00:48There have been just an untold number of people displaced.
00:52We have people in our office, and I just lost their homes.
00:57I spoke to one of our producers who lived in a house that was destroyed in Altadena,
01:05moved to Glendale to stay somewhere, that home was evacuated,
01:09moved to Woodland Hills after that, that home was evacuated.
01:14So that's kind of the state a lot of people are in right now.
01:17Fires, while the winds were kicking up, the fires were springing up everywhere,
01:21and people had to continually be evacuating.
01:25It is causing, as you can imagine, an incredible strain on the system there,
01:31and we're going to get into this a little later, but people who are now being critical...
01:35By the way, this was a fire late last night,
01:37where a four-story home in the hills came crashing down.
01:43And there are thousands of other examples of this.
01:47New fires have sprung up.
01:49They actually were able to contain one in the Hollywood Hills.
01:54Which would have been unbelievable, given the brush there and the number of homes.
01:57This was just above sunset, so yeah, that would have been devastating,
02:01but they got a win last night.
02:02So lots and lots of people lost their homes, celebrities among them,
02:07and here is just a partial list of what we know so far.
02:11Right, and you can see, we're saying this was John Goodman's home,
02:17but you don't see anything there that tells you, other than the fence
02:20and the driveway, that there was a home there.
02:23Billy Crystal lost his home as well.
02:26These are all in that Pacific Palisades area.
02:30Some are in Malibu, but this is Pacific Palisades here.
02:33Eugene Levy lost his home as well.
02:36Just a long, long list of people.
02:38Yeah, Anthony Hopkins lost a home.
02:42This is what's left of Leighton Meester and Adam Brody's home.
02:46Miles Teller lost his home as well.
02:48Yeah, Miles Teller.
02:49And remember, even you could see Miles Teller,
02:52we always see those shots of him driving that Bronco.
02:55The Bronco was burned out in the driveway.
02:58Paris Hilton, also among them.
03:01She lost her home as well, I believe in Malibu.
03:03Yeah, on the beach.
03:04So lots and lots of people.
03:07But I got to tell you, when you look at Pacific Palisades,
03:11this community has been leveled.
03:13I mean, there is no other way to describe it.
03:16It has been leveled, and people literally had to run for their lives.
