00:00Hello, my name's Paul Marshall, I'm the leader for West Sussex County Council. We've just
00:05concluded a cabinet meeting which is really around whether we as a cabinet and as a county
00:11council submit a proposal to be in the government's priority devolution programme. That proposal
00:18really co-exists with Brighton and Hove and with East Sussex and I'm pleased that cabinet
00:25has fully endorsed that opportunity. What's really important is that this is an opportunity
00:31that can bring greater benefits for our residents and our businesses and an opportunity to contribute
00:39more to better outcomes. The decision is made as to whether there's a mayor, the government
00:44have been quite clear on that. For us we feel it's probably better to get that mayor model
00:50in place sooner rather than in 2028 so I'm pleased that we've been able to have agreement
00:59in regards to our submission for tomorrow.
