Gerard Butler (Plane, Has Fallen series) and O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton, Godzilla: King of the Monsters) return in the sequel to 2018’s action-heist hit Den of Thieves. In DEN OF THIEVES: PANTERA, Big Nick (Butler) is back on the hunt in Europe and closing in on Donnie (Jackson), who is embroiled in the treacherous and unpredictable world of diamond thieves and the infamous Panther mafia, as they plot a massive heist of the world’s largest diamond exchange.

00:00You and I are part of this weird symbiosis.
00:05You see, you only exist for a line, because of me.
00:13I done one, I kept the gangsters and the cops separate.
00:17You don't have any jurisdiction here.
00:21So it wasn't a lot of, you know, hanging out between cops and robbers.
00:27And we did separate training and I would go hang out with the gangsters one night,
00:31go to dinner with them and go training, go shooting.
00:33And the next day I'd go hang out with the cops.
00:35So I didn't really get a chance to pick his brain or really kick it in the first films.
00:40But this film was a different deal.
00:43Of course, ostensibly the movie's about diamond thieves and diamond heists
00:47and gangsters in Europe and that's the setting.
00:50But really at its heart and at its core, it's a buddy movie.
00:53You're going to rob that place and I'm going to do it with you.
00:57The first movie, I spent most of the time punching him in the face.
01:00I still bonded with him, I really liked him in the first movie,
01:03but there's only so much you can bond with somebody when you're choking them out,
01:06punching them, slapping them.
01:10It's cool to be back with Christian and Jerry for this.
01:14The gang is back.
01:16This movie, I didn't really slap him around so much, so we had more of a chance to talk
01:20and hang out and spend time together.
01:22We both rented villas.
01:24It's a big island, but we rented villas right next door to each other.
01:27And he got the bigger one, so I wasn't happy about that.
01:30I'm still complaining.
01:31Gerard is a cool dude.
01:33Every damn thing he does is an action movie, so he's well-versed in the genre.
01:40Been picking his brain, getting tips, getting pats on the back when I deserve it,
01:46which is all the time.
01:48O'Shea just makes me laugh.
01:55He brings such levity and such charm, and he's just so winning.
01:59And on screen, the camera really captures that.
02:03He's so much fun to be around.
02:04Hello there.
02:06I'm film and television's O'Shea Jackson, Jr.,
02:08and I'm working on a Saturday so that you can go see Genevieve 2, Pantera.
02:14You want to say something, guys?
02:15Didn't think so.
02:16This is my first sequel in my career, so it's cool to go back to a character
02:21and kind of get a new feel for him, see where he is in his life,
02:26see where you are in your real life and how you can blend it together.
02:29I've been working on An Awful Christian now for 10 years.
02:31We really have a shorthand in writing.
02:33And we knew how important this character was to Jerry,
02:37and we had a long time to finesse and work on the script
02:41and work on both Nick's character and Donnie's character.
02:44You're writing with more specificity.
02:46When you're writing a spec script, for example,
02:49and you have no idea who the actors are going to be,
02:51no idea where you're going to shoot it,
02:53to know those things is a completely different process, really.
02:56Because you love both these guys, and it's fun when they're adversaries,
02:59but it's also kind of fun when they're bonding as well.
03:01And what kind of bonding is that?
03:03That was sort of the key to this film.
03:05You have to really believe these guys will learn to care for one another.
03:08Their dynamic was just incredible.
03:11Their camaraderie, their repertoire, their back-and-forth
03:15is fundamental to the success of the film.
