The stars came out to celebrate the National Board of Review annual Awards Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City last night. Willie Geist hosted the event honoring the art of cinema, with categories that include Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Actress, and many more. We caught up with Nicole Kidman, Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Yeoh, Ralph Fiennes, Christine Baranski, Elle Fanning, Kieran Culkin, Liev Schreiber, Arian Moayed, and more on the red carpet.

00:38The holidays are intense, aren't they?
00:41It's such an intense time of year and then comes all of the acting celebrations.
00:45Which is kind of wonderful. We get to stay in a kind of celebratory mood
00:50with all of these marvellous shows that feature great actors.
00:56Going home tomorrow and resting. How do I rest? I sleep!
01:00I read, I take walks, I snuggle with my husband and my kids and just relax.
01:09I'm really, really grateful for what's going on right now.
01:13It's lovely to know that people are connecting to this piece and to connect to this character
01:18and getting to know me a bit more as well. It's really lovely.
01:21Absolutely, I needed just a couple of days and now we're back at it.
01:25How did you rest?
01:26By sleeping with nothing on. No music, no TV, nothing. Silence and quiet.
01:33But with my little dogs and it was just lovely, yeah.
01:38This is years in the making. I've been doing this for years.
01:41It's lovely that people are seeing them and asking them and enjoying them just as much as I've been enjoying them.
01:47Now it's not just a solo project anymore.
01:52Sometimes there is just no predicting how everyone is going to get along.
01:56But I think John Q really sets such a great tone to the whole thing.
02:01Everybody came with love in their hearts, wanting to be there.
02:06It's important that we have friendship and joy in our lives.
02:09We did our research. We read a lot. We had a religious advisor on set every day.
02:15Every day on the set is a surprise. You don't know what challenges you're going to face.
02:21You meet your screen partner and everything should be a discovery. You should come open.
02:27That's an actor's life. You're switching between characters.
02:30Sometimes in the theatre you're playing one character one night and another character another night.
02:38I have a bunch of projects that we just shot and that we're waiting to have out into the world.
02:44Which are going to be very exciting.
02:46Working on producing some things and really looking forward to giving Mohammad Rasulov his award tonight that he so richly deserves.
