00:00Good evening Kapuso! I am your Kuya Kim who will give you the trivia behind the trending news.
00:10Now that Jesus has been crucified, let's find out the history of one of the largest mass executions of religious leaders in the country.
00:19Hipa! Hipa! Hipa!
00:25The streets of Manila are once again filled with millions of people gathering to glorify Jesus Nazareno.
00:34The image of our Father Jesus Nazareno, who is believed to be the Savior, arrived in Manila with his brother Recoleto from Mexico in 1606.
00:43Many people believe that this black colored Nazareno was damaged when it was ridden by a lion that roamed the Philippines.
00:53But according to Monsignor Sabino Venco Jr. of Loyola School of Theology, the wood where the Nazareno was made is a black wood called mesquite.
01:03But did you know that what is celebrated on this day is not the liturgical feast,
01:06but the anniversary of its translation from its original location in Intramuros to Quepo in 1787?
01:17Since then, the translation has become one of the largest mass executions of Catholics in the Philippines.
01:22Because of the large number of people moving to the position, it is often reached before it ends.
01:27The longest position of Jesus Nazareno was held in 2012, 2017, and 2018, which lasted more than 22 hours.
01:35While the fastest was held for more than 7 hours until 2004, 2005, and 2006.
01:43But did you know where Jesus Nazareno's home was before it was moved to Quepo?
01:55This is the Iglesia de San Nicolás de Tolentino in Calle Cabildo in Intramuros.
02:00It served as the headquarters of the Asian-Augustinian Recollect Order.
02:04It served as the home of Jesus Nazareno from 1608 until it was moved to Quepo in 1787.
02:11The historic church was destroyed during the Second World War.
02:15In 1959, it was demolished by the Trujillo.
