Due to the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, several major events and productions have been cancelled, postponed or paused. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has delayed the announcement of the 2025 Oscar nominations from January 17 to January 19. Hollywood events like the BAFTA Tea Party and the AFI Awards luncheon have been called off, while premieres for films such as ‘Wolf Man’, ‘Unstoppable’ and a few others have been cancelled. The Writers Guild of America postponed the release of its WGA Awards nominations from January 9 to January 13. Netflix also cancelled a planned Hollywood event. Additionally, multiple TV productions, including ‘Doctor Odyssey’, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ and others have halted filming due to the fires.
