With no one in the driver seat, a Vay car resembles an autonomous robotaxi but is built around remote driving, where a human is sitting in an office using TV monitors to guide the car. The German startup is demonstrating its technology ahead of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the world's most important tech show.

00:00What we do at WEI here is a completely different approach to autonomous driving, which is that
00:26we've developed a new kind of technology which we call remote driving.
00:30So that's a new technology where someone from afar, a remote driver, in a one-to-one
00:35matter drives a car remotely.
00:54A human can make the decision and can decide the right thing to handle that situation.
00:59Versus autonomous driving, they have to get massive amounts of training data, they have
01:03to run massive amounts of simulations.
