00:00As earlier assured that some programs will be exempted, the Commission on Elections, or COMELEC, approved the exemption of the Ayuda para sa Kapos Angkita program, or ACAP, from the election spending ban.
00:13Meanwhile, the poll body released the final number of candidates for the upcoming midterm polls.
00:18Luisa Erispe has the details.
00:22The Commission on Elections has released its final number of candidates for the 2025 national and local elections.
00:29On its count, the Commission said there are 41,678 candidates to be included in the ballots, out of 44,000 who submitted their Certificate of Candidacies.
00:39But there are issues revolving some of the candidates, specifically senatorial bets, such as Congressman Erwin Tulfo, who has been on top of surveys for the position.
00:48The question is, will his name still be included on the ballots even if he is convicted of libel?
00:54The COMELEC clarified, Tulfo has no disqualification case as of yet.
01:17Another is Congressman Rodante Marcoleta, who also aims to run for the position of senator.
01:22COMELEC clarified that he did not withdraw his candidacy, contrary to what is spreading online.
01:43On local positions, the COMELEC unbanked said they haven't resolved as of the case of Marikina City Mayor Marcy Tudoro's cancellation of COC
01:51for the position of 1st District Representative.
01:53But they have decided to affirm the decision of the COMELEC Division to disqualify and cancel the COC of Governor Noel Rosal, who is supposed to be a re-electionist for Albay Governor.
02:04Meanwhile, the COMELEC has also decided today to grant an exemption from the election spending ban to 28 programs of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, including the ACAP program.
02:16Also included are AICs, 4Ps, Walang Gutom program, and others.
02:21But the COMELEC clarified, even with the exemption, any form of presence of politicians or candidates will trigger them to lift the exemption because they strongly remind some government officials not to use public funds for their own convenience.
02:36Louisa Erispe, from The National TV, for a new and better Philippines.
