00:00In terms of size, it is of the size of Bangladesh.
00:04In terms of population, it is of the size of Spain.
00:08So, Honorable Minister, sir, since you are the external affairs minister,
00:11it would be easy for you certainly to place us.
00:14We have a US $110 economy, 11% of India's water,
00:19480 kilometers of the Indian coastline.
00:24What makes Odisha an interesting and attractive investment destination?
00:28I'll just speak on these five points very briefly.
00:31Our polity, the democratic polity, our economy, geography, policy, and the demography.
00:38What is it about our policy, our polity, the demographic polity?
00:42What you see on stage is what the change in government is.
00:47Ladies and gentlemen, what gives speed to a train engine?
00:53What gives double straight speed to a train?
00:56Do you see that on stage?
00:58That is our democratic polity.
01:00We have our Honorable Chief Minister, our Honorable External Affairs Minister,
01:04and under their leadership, we are going to witness the next phase of Odisha's growth.
01:09Our economy has been growing at more than 10% in the last few years.
01:14In fact, we are a significant contribution to the growth of Indian economy.
01:18There are states growing at a rate lower than us,
01:21and there are states growing at a rate faster than us.
01:24However, we are a significant contributor to the growth of Indian economy,
01:29which today is a beacon of hope in the world, as our Honorable Prime Minister says.
01:36We are also one of the fastest growing economy and diversified economies in India,
01:41because we got 43%, almost 40% from contribution from industry sector,
01:4638% from services sector, and the balance from agriculture sector.
01:50More importantly, because of certain features related to our geography and our polity,
01:55we have been receiving good investment intents.
01:57The top graph on the right hand side shows a data given by Centre for Monitoring of Indian Economy,
02:03where we are the second highest investment attracting state in the country today.
02:08Just below Maharashtra, but above Gujarat, above Karnataka, above Tamil Nadu and UP.
02:14And the left bottom graph shows a graph by the Reserve Bank of India,
02:19not only large investment intents, but also conversion into actual investment opportunities
02:24by assistance from financial markets, from capital markets, from banks and other financial institutions.
02:30But what drives this growth?
02:32What drives this growth is that Odisha is a mineral rich coastal state,
02:36while there are states in the country who are mineral rich, for instance,
02:39Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, but they are not coastal.
02:42And there are coastal states, for instance, Andhra Pradesh, but they are not mineral rich.
02:47We are twice blessed by the Lord Jagannath.
02:50We have 25% of India's coal, 35% of India's iron ore, 45% of India's manganese,
02:5855% of India's bauxite, almost the entire nickel and chromite.
03:03More importantly, we are blessed with rare earths.
03:06On the coast of Odisha, we are blessed with rare earths,
03:09which is giving us the next age of growth in aluminite, monazite and also in titanium.
03:15Not only the mineral advantage, we have converted it into the metals advantage
03:18by following a policy of local value addition.
03:21We are the largest producer of iron, largest producer of steel,
03:25largest producer of stainless steel, largest producer of bauxite,
03:29largest producer of alumina, largest producer of aluminium.
03:33And not only that, there is a significant growth which is happening.
03:36The steel capacities will be added more than 100 million tonnes per annum.
03:40And kindly take a look at this map of Odisha where you would see
03:43that all these investments are spread throughout the state,
03:47which gives us tremendous advantage in terms of being able to attract
03:51more companies, more and more companies in the entire value chain
03:55from mining to mineral to metal.
03:58In fact, there are companies, for instance, TYK from Japan,
04:00Wells Fund from Gujarat, Calris from Spain, Almatys from France,
04:05SMS Group from Germany, Magna again from France,
04:09TRL Kosaki from Japan who have already discovered this value chain prospects in Odisha.
04:16It takes 4 million tonnes of material to be moved for 1 tonne of steel.
04:21And it requires 8 million tonnes of material to be moved for 1 million tonne of aluminium.
04:27And 1 tonne of aluminium requires 300 kilograms of 18 other chemicals.
04:35Today, all of these chemicals bearing a few come from a country,
04:39I need not name that country.
04:41This is a huge opportunity in Odisha.
04:44The second advantage which we derive from our geography is our coastal nature.
04:48We are on the east coast of India.
04:49We are within 6 hours from 50% of the world economy.
04:54The South East Asian nations, countries like Singapore, Sri Lanka,
04:58all the Far East countries are...
