00:00To the final, well, almost final.
00:03The curtain is closing.
00:05Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have reached settlement.
00:08We broke the story on the website
00:10that they have hammered out all the terms.
00:14They've turned it over to the court.
00:16And it's just a matter of waiting
00:19for the judge to sign this.
00:21And then it's going to be official, what, end of February?
00:24February 20.
00:24And I got to say, for as much as they have
00:28and the number of assets, and remember, there was no prenup.
00:31So things were intermingled.
00:34I got to say, they got this done pretty quickly.
00:37And amicably.
00:38Yeah, so remember, we've been seeing them interacting
00:41over the last few months.
00:42And it's clear that there is not animosity.
00:45This was mediated by Laura Wasser, who does
00:47all the celebrity divorces.
00:49And her big thing is, she doesn't want to create a war.
00:52And she succeeded here.
00:54But the interesting thing is, like you said,
00:58they did lots of things professionally
01:00during their two-year marriage.
01:02That would be community property normally,
01:04because there was no prenup, as you said.
01:06And that would mean you split everything 50-50.
01:09They settled it as if there was a prenup.
01:12So what she did is hers.
01:14What he did, including his production company,
01:17the creation of it, is his.
01:19And there is the biggest sign of no animosity.
01:21Because if there was, it would have been very easy to say,
01:24hey, this is the law.
01:25Yeah, that's the biggest deal of all.
01:27And for him in particular, Artist Equity
01:29was formed four months after he got married.
01:31Yes, that's his production company with Matt Damon.
01:34It's become hugely successful very quickly.
01:36They did the movie Air and other projects.
01:38He has an equity stake in that.
01:39And because it was formed after the marriage,
01:42she would be entitled to half of that equity stake, which
01:44is probably 25% of the company that
01:47could be worth millions and millions of dollars over time.
01:49Instead, she's walking away.
01:51And Harvey, you never see people do it without lawyers at all.
01:54They just did it with Laura and some business people in a room.
01:56That's incredible.
01:57Yeah, no, it's honestly, honestly,
02:01this is a testament to Laura Wasser.
02:03Because handling this, and especially
02:06when you have egos involved, is tricky.
02:09And she did it.
02:10A testament to her, but a real threat
02:11to the legal profession.
02:12We need to be brought in for these things every now and then.
02:15Don't do this too much.
02:17Hi, I'm Allie from Sarasota, Florida.
02:20I couldn't agree with you guys more.
02:22I think that this is a very evolved and loving way
02:25to deal with a divorce to a person that you've loved
02:28and known for so long.
02:30No prenup, but still respecting the fact
02:32that there doesn't need to be spousal support, so why bother?
02:37Neither of them need the other person's money,
02:39so it's giving no bad blood.
02:42Yeah, so you know, that's not the way it often works.
02:46Even if you don't need it, you fight for it
02:48because you're angry.
02:50This one worked.
