00:00Welcome back to the Tactics Zone, as we look back at yesterday's dramatic 3-3 draw between Hibbs and Rangers,
00:07and specifically the tactical tweak that provided the home side, already 2-0 down after 20 minutes, with a way back into the game.
00:16David Gray spotted early on that Nicky Cadden's attempts to close down Rydvan Yilmas on his first touch were falling just short,
00:23leaving a gap in the defensive line as the ball was played around or over the wingback.
00:27It was a problem he addressed promptly. Gray felt his team were too expansive in the opening stages.
00:33The back three were in good shape with the ball, but caught out on the counter more than once.
00:40They were also guilty of confusion from the second phase at this corner kick,
00:44with no one closing the Rangers player down as he picked out his cross for the visitors' second goal.
00:50Once Gray made the minor changes required, Hibbs more than held their own,
00:54and they always had players capable of causing damage.
00:58Nicky Cadden's deliveries from the left were typically dangerous,
01:01and he had plenty of targets in the box, as Hibbs played with intent in the final third.
01:07The running, on and off the ball, of Nectar Triantis also paid dividends,
01:12never more so than in winning the free kick that led to a first goal for Hibbs.
01:16The Australian played the ball wide, kept his run going,
01:20found himself beyond the Rangers' midfield, and left the visitors with no option but to foul him.
01:27Hibbs genuinely looked the better side for Spells, even before their second goal,
01:32and their ability to switch play caused problems for Rangers.
01:35The Cadden boys combined to good effect more than once.
01:39A special mention must go to all three players involved in winning the crucial penalty for Hibbs.
01:44Chris Cadden for driving infield and finding Dwight Gale with his pass.
01:48Gale for the exquisite lay-off around the corner.
01:51And Josh Campbell, who had won possession initially,
01:54for continuing his run to leave his marker with no option but to foul inside the box.
02:00In a game not short of heroes and villains, Hibbs more than earned their share of the points,
02:05thanks to a slight positional shift that gained them a foothold just when all seemed lost.
