Rory Kinnear believes that the film premiere for Bank on Dave 2: The Loan Ranger couldn't have been anywhere else than David Fishwick's home town of Burnley.
Transcript
00:00How does it feel being back in Burnley to launch the premiere today?
00:02Oh it's absolutely fantastic, we couldn't have the premiere anywhere else,
00:05particularly after doing the first one here in Burnley as well,
00:08why would you want to do it anywhere else as well?
00:10And how was it playing Dave again?
00:12It was like slipping back into the comfiest pair of pyjamas,
00:16and it's funny to be playing the same part again,
00:20often you do that in a fictional world,
00:22but to be playing a real life character twice, I haven't done it before,
00:27so it's funny obviously refreshing yourself with the accent,
00:30refreshing yourself with the behaviour,
00:31but also remembering that it's sort of as much me as it is Dave as well,
00:36and to build the story as well.
00:38Did you get a warm welcome in Burnley?
00:40No, no never, no absolutely we didn't,
00:43and I think people recognised the fact that
00:48we portrayed the city in a positive light in the first film,
00:53and that it obviously brought a fair bit of attention as well
00:56to the people and to the place,
00:59and so yeah I think wherever we went people were obviously interested,
01:04they obviously knew what we were doing,
01:06whereas we were sort of able to go under the radar the first time around,
01:10and so yeah wherever we went there was a smile and a thumbs up.
01:14And have you enjoyed being in North East Lancashire?
01:16Absolutely, I mean I've done a bit of filming in the North West over the years,
01:20and every time it's so, and my dad was originally from Wigan,
01:23so the last time I was up here I was able to go back to where he was born,
01:28and see where he grew up, which I'd never done before,
01:30so yeah there's a family connection with the place as well.
01:34And what can people expect from this film?
01:36Well I think similar to the first film,
01:38that sense of, you know, what's inspirational about it,
01:43I think why it chimed with people is the fact that
01:46it's about people sticking up for each other,
01:49and remembering that people are individuals,
01:52communities are built with individuals and people,
01:55rather than institutions and corporations,
01:58and to try and remember that,
01:59and to try and remember the human connection that we all crave.
