Rain-bearing weather systems to affect parts of the Philippines

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Monday, Jan. 6 that four weather systems will continue to bring rain showers over several parts of the country in the next 24 hours.  The prevailing weather systems are the northeast monsoon (amihan), shear line, Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), and localized thunderstorms. 00:06The time is now January 6, the first Monday of 2025.

00:12In our latest satellite images, we can see that there are clouds bringing rain,

00:17particularly here in the eastern part of Visayas and Mindanao.

00:21This is a part of the Intertropical Convergence Zone.

00:24While there is a high chance of rain, particularly in the eastern part of Southern Luzon.

00:29This includes areas of Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Camarines Provinces.

00:34This is the end of the shear line.

00:36The aurora part can experience cloudy skies with rain.

00:41Meanwhile, the north-east monsoon or hanging amehan will still bring cloudy skies and rain,

00:48particularly in the Manacagayan Valley region and Cordillera.

00:53In the coming days, the north-east monsoon or hanging amehan will still be possible.

00:59This is why the northern part of Luzon will experience cooler temperatures in the coming days.

01:08Meanwhile, the Intertropical Convergence Zone can continue to bring rain,

01:14especially in the eastern part of Visayas.
