00:00Lotus Toss Malaysia's Sundrian Berhad made history on Saturday by creating the country's
00:07longest yisang, which is a traditional lunar New Year dish stretching 1,211 metres.
00:14The record-breaking achievement, certified by the Malaysian Book of Records, took place
00:19at their Kepong branch.
00:20Lotus Malaysia Corporate Services Executive Director Azliza Baizura said that the preparation
00:26of the massive prosperity toss dish started at 7am, with volunteers arranging fresh fruits
00:32and vegetables across 650 connected tables.
00:36Of course, Chinese New Year is all about joy and happiness and inclusivity.
00:41So this year we thought we're going to have to try and do it something different by achieving
00:45a record but involving as many people as we can.
00:49For example, we've got our business partners that is with us today, we've got our charity
00:53partners as well, our colleagues who are volunteering.
00:57It was about more than 150 of us volunteering to do the longest yisang and at the same time
01:03giving opportunity for the children from the five homes to come and join the tossing as
01:09well.
01:10I see some customers coming by and joining so it's actually quite a happy occasion.
01:14Hopefully it brings more luck to us as a nation and at the same time for Lotus to achieve
01:20the longest yisang book of records.
01:24I think our target was 1188 metres but today we've exceeded that so it's 1211 metres.
01:31The record-breaking feat was the highlight of the hypermarkets, Everything Prosperous
01:36Lotus' Great Prizes, Great Fortune and Prosperity campaign.
01:43The celebration also included children from underprivileged homes who participated in
01:47activities like Chinese drum performances, traditional games and arts and crafts.
01:53The event highlighted both record-breaking achievement and community service, with Lotus'
01:58donating 3,900 kilograms of freshly prepared yisang to five community and welfare centres
02:05across the Klang Valley.
