Murmur or rumors? Could be something, could be nothing? Albert Breer of the MMQB says there have been murmurs about a Fins change at GM... Does this mean Chris Grier is on the outs? Who Would take his place and how would it affect the team?
Transcript
00:00Uh, this made the rounds during the, during the couple of days off.
00:03Oh, other than you.
00:07I don't like this dude.
00:08I really, I gotta be honest with you.
00:11I didn't do anything.
00:13I didn't do anything.
00:14And I don't like how you are an instigator.
00:17I don't like how you are, are burning this entire thing up, blowing it up in a
00:24situation where I'm not doing anything.
00:27I'm just sitting here.
00:29You guys sat here today.
00:30You're like, probably cause you gambled on it.
00:32And you sat here, you're like, thanks for showing up last night, Jimmy.
00:36And you would think he's tanking.
00:37And I don't think that's what he's doing.
00:38I think he's just, I didn't say that.
00:41Oh, what did you say then?
00:42What did you say?
00:42I mean, the line was set at 16.
00:45Jesus.
00:46I'm saying this.
00:51Everybody says, Jimmy's that dude pick a dude from another team.
00:58Right.
01:01Most dudes on the team.
01:02He's not most dudes though.
01:04I, you've watched him for six years.
01:05Why are you surprised by this?
01:07Um, he's never done this as much as he's done it this year.
01:12He hasn't, he hasn't disagree.
01:14I think he hasn't done the 25 minutes and five point thing.
01:18He's just, I'm telling you that you keep saying, so here's what you're telling me.
01:24That when he wants to, he can just, I'm just saying, he's finding his way, baby.
01:30Last night, weird game.
01:34He's going to find his way.
01:35Okay.
01:36But I'll get to back to Jimmy in a little bit.
01:37First, somebody saying there's murmurs about the dolphins.
01:45Yeah.
01:46It's not quite fodder and it's not rumblings and it's not rumors.
01:52Hmm.
01:53Or reports.
01:55But according to Albert Breer sports illustrated, well, he said that there
02:04have been at least murmurs of front office shuffling in Indianapolis and Miami.
02:14Made him a member of those are the murmurs was the murmurs dude, that the
02:19dolphins and the Colts, there's been murmurs about what front office shuffling.
02:29I like that.
02:29Could be, uh, you know, could be something, something could be nothing.
02:33Cause I don't know why they do that.
02:35I don't know how strong murmurs are.
02:37Like murmurs to me is like, uh, you know, but you know, I've been there a while.
02:47So here's what you think.
02:48Let me just put it out there.
02:51They're not going to fire Chris Greer.
02:53They're going to change his responsibilities.
02:55Ooh, that's what a murmur is.
02:59That's a murmur or a shakeup.
03:03Ooh, well, a shakeup, a shakeup would say he's out.
03:07Not necessarily.
03:09If he's been in an organization that long, what they'll say is they're going to.
03:15So Chris Greer becomes the general manager of F1.
03:18Okay.
03:21He's still going to be with the dolphins.
03:23Hmm.
03:23I don't know.
03:25I don't know.
03:27You don't think that even at the end, like Steven Ross is going to be sitting
03:31there with Garfinkel and he goes again, I'm sitting here and every guy that I
03:35paid is hurt at the end of this.
03:36This is Chris Greer.
03:38He doesn't, uh, I think he's talking to Chris Greer.
03:41You think he's telling them that he's like, Hey, you think Garfinkel
03:44is the guy he's talking to?
03:46Well, I think Garfinkel is a myth.
03:47I think Garfinkel is like the, the, the go between, you know, like, you know,
03:51Garfinkel, okay.
03:52Okay.
03:53I think, I don't know.
03:54See, I don't always believe the titles hold those positions, right?
04:03Because I mean, Chris Greer has been a long time.
04:09I know.
04:10So I know how long has Garfinkel been there?
04:16Less, less than that.
04:17So, but he's, he's, you know, he's, I mean, listen, he's built an empire for
04:23Steven Ross, you know, with the whole sports thing and he's made all the deals.
04:26He's, he's a hobnobber.
04:28He's a mover and shaker.
04:30All right.
04:31I'm just saying he might not be a football guy.
04:34Oh, he's not a football guy.
04:34I think he's just like, well, you know who sits in that booth, right?
04:40You know, you got, you got Steven Ross, right?
04:43You got Garfinkel and then you got Marino and you think they're all
04:47murmuring amongst each other and like, no, no, no, no.
04:55I don't, I don't think it, see, because it would only work like
05:01that if you want the damn job.
05:04Oh, you think so?
05:05You think if Dan was making moves, he goes, damn, what do you think
05:07about actually doing it this time?
05:08No, no, I'm not saying that.
05:10I'm saying that the, the powers that be that are sitting in that booth,
05:15talking to Steven Ross, right?
05:19You don't have a conversation like that with Steven Ross,
05:24unless you have an alternative.
05:27You understand what I'm saying?
05:29Yeah.
05:29But if you've had somebody there for a long time and you've kind
05:32of given him his run, right?
05:33He's been there the longest though.
05:35So that conversation is probably happening with Chris Greer.
05:38He predates Steven Ross.
05:40That conversation is probably happening with Chris Greer.
05:43Maybe they have a good enough relationship where, Hey, what
05:47are we going to do about this?
05:49But murmurs don't come directly.
05:50Murmurs come from the outside.
05:52Like, I think I'm going to have a talk with Steven outside.
05:55Okay.
05:56Nobody cares about that inside.
06:00It's the inside murmurs that kind of present themselves like bubble
06:04guts, but then you got to go make a boo-boo and you don't even realize it.
06:08Uh, somebody's saying a cap for life.
06:10Same Twitter streets are saying Brandon shores.
06:13The next GM, the cap guy, please.
06:17I don't, but that's, that's me.
06:20I don't need another cap guy, dude.
06:23No, no.
06:25I mean, I think the dolphins biggest issue, and I won't say Chris Greer is
06:34that they have taken this offensive line thing lightly when you look around the
06:41league and see the teams that are being dominant, it's all starting with
06:48the offense and defensive lines.
06:51And I think it's okay to, to build a team around speed and, and, and all these
06:57things, but again, this time of year is the teams that have that, um, dominant
07:07offensive line that have success.
07:10Sure.
07:10And it's always been built that way.
07:12When you think of all the, you think of Tom Brady, how many of Tom Brady's
07:17offensive lineman got paid for whatever reason, because, Hey,
07:20they were protecting Tom Brady.
07:23That's kind of how this works.
07:24You look at Detroit.
07:25Holy smokes.
07:27But like, it wouldn't be too surprising based on Steven Ross's track record.
07:31If, if he did keep McDaniel around and did decide to move, he has done that
07:35before where he's gone, keep coach, don't keep GM, keep GM, don't keep coach.
07:40Why does everybody think that one and both of them have to go together
07:49or leave or stay together?
07:50Why do people think that people like a clean house, dude?
07:54No, but you, even if there's a way of determining where the issue is, like
08:03it's very easy for me to determine where they can see and figure out
08:07if we need to make any changes.
08:10Is the, is it the players or the system, right?
08:13They can't run a football and since November hit, they can't run a football
08:18since at all in December and now we're in the new year and you haven't been
08:23able to run the football, you've had to rotate more offensive linemen and guys
08:28playing out of position at a position that maybe you took a little bit too
08:32lightly.
08:33Okay.
08:34That's not coaching.
08:40Plus you'd also be in a position where you'd have three, if they finish this
08:43week, nine and eight, like you're going to fire a coach with three straight
08:45winning seasons, right?
08:47Well, the GM can say the same damn thing.
08:49Yeah, he could.
08:50He could, but so, so, so like, if, if, you know, if, if I had to go to the
09:00weaknesses of this team, some people would say that he doesn't think they're
09:06tough enough and that has to do with Mike McDaniel and how he goes about his
09:10business.
09:10I'm not going to argue that.
09:11I don't think it's true, but I'm not going to argue that.
09:15But I will say this with all of the success we're seeing in the league and
09:23how teams are doing it, you seem far from that.
09:31And I'm also distracted by the guy who just says, seems like throwing out
09:36the baby with the bathwater.
09:39Is that what you're saying?
09:40Yes.
09:42It's a ridiculous one.
09:43But, but yeah, so, so, so this is not, this is not, we've been talking about
09:52this offensive line for three years.
09:54Yeah.
09:55No other position that we talked about.
09:57We talked about having a big bruiser at running back, but they ran the
09:59ball, they've been running the ball.
10:01Well, now they're not, and it's all going back to the things we've been
10:06talking about for two or three years.
10:08Now, Chris Greer didn't help when he said, don't worry about it.
10:11I'm worried about it.
10:13Cause now you got a whole bunch of guys playing out of position because
10:18it's not so much Chris Greer.
10:19I think with Chris Greer, my biggest thing with him is it's not so much that
10:22he seems like he's bad at picking talent.
10:24He seems like a really bad, like planner of, of the future.
10:30Yeah.
10:30He just like, he always seems like he's good at, he can plug
10:33holes and he can fix things.
10:35But like when it comes to a Chris, this guy's missed this many games of career.
10:39Nah, don't worry about it.
10:41You know what he, Chris Greer is kind of GM in the team the same way.
10:48Um, who's the last, uh, Jim that from the Jetson in the year?
10:52Um, which is go get, go spend all the money for the, the, the older guys.
11:01Right.
11:02And he did that.
11:04You have a left tackle.
11:06Who's amazing when he plays, right?
11:09You have a whole bunch of young guys that need development, but you don't
11:12have enough veterans around them to kind of swallow them up while they learn.
11:18And you got guys playing out of position when there's injuries.
11:21Yeah.
11:21That, that it's, it's a tough spot to be in.
11:26You like, you should have planned for this a little bit better.
11:31And all of your money is going to players to where you're always going to have to
11:40be cheap on the offensive line.
11:42So I don't know if it's a fixable thing, unless you start moving money around.
