Description:
In this video, Acharya ji explores the profound question of life's purpose. He poses whether the purpose is found within ourselves or in the external world, and whether it relates to individual growth or something greater. He emphasizes that life is experienced in the present moment, shaped by our memories and future aspirations.

Acharya ji encourages viewers to identify what troubles them in their lives, suggesting that the resolution of these core troubles may reveal the true purpose of life. He uses the metaphor of an uncomfortable chair to illustrate that focusing on superficial issues distracts us from addressing deeper problems.

He argues that the ultimate purpose of life is to gain freedom from limitations and to challenge our boundaries. Acharya ji warns against pursuing goals dictated by others, as this can lead to disappointment and a sense of failure. Instead, he advocates for setting personal goals that resonate with one's true desires. He concludes by stating that even if one fails while pursuing a meaningful challenge, that effort can still be considered a success.

00:00I really wanted to ask you, what do you think is the purpose of one's life, like is it inside
00:15us or is it present in the outside world for us to find out, like is it our individual
00:20growth as a human or is it something other than our being and is something bigger than
00:25ourselves and I really wanted to ask you and if you can share this, if you find your purpose.
00:36See, what you call as life is experienced moment to moment, even the memories of the
00:47past and the imaginations of the future, you experience them in this moment.
00:53So essentially, life is nothing but your experience as it is right now.
01:02So when you talk of the purpose of life, it has to be related to your lived experience,
01:08how you are experiencing life as it is for you currently.
01:14Ask yourself, as you are living, what is it that troubles you?
01:23That which troubles you, go deeply into it.
01:28Finding a solution to the core of your troubles can be the only purpose of life.
01:35What else?
01:38What else?
01:43Let's say you are sitting on a chair that's very uncomfortable to sit on.
01:53There are needles jutting out and you are sitting on them or it's just too small for
01:59you let's say or one of its legs is cracked and shaking.
02:06And I tell you the purpose of life is universal brotherhood.
02:10How does that help you?
02:13What is your problem?
02:14Your problem is the chair you are sitting on.
02:17It is hurting you, at least your body and therefore it is disturbing your mental peace
02:22as well.
02:25So you have to go into how your life is and the troubles of your life.
02:32If you can look clearly and honestly at them, the troubles of your life will tell you the
02:37purpose of your life.
02:40Otherwise sitting on a chair that hurts and preaching of universal brotherhood makes no
02:48sense, no sense at all.
02:54Those who have known have taught us that the purpose of life is to gain freedom from everything
03:00that keeps you small.
03:02Do you want to stay small?
03:04You want to be big in every terms.
03:09In fact, all human desires are in some way the desires to challenge one's limits.
03:18We are born limited and as we grow up we face several kinds of limits.
03:24You look into any desire you have, in some way it would be challenging some limit you
03:30encounter.
03:32So that's the purpose of life, to grow big, to challenge your limits, to overcome everything
03:43that keeps you in bondages.
03:47Freedom is your essential nature and therefore that alone can be the purpose of life.
03:53But before you talk of freedom, you must know where your bondages are.
03:58Therefore I talked of the chair.
04:01Now by that I do not mean to turn the whole thing very casual.
04:06I do not mean to say that the purpose of life is to buy a comfortable chair for yourself.
04:12I said when you encounter troubles, hurts, problems, suffering, you have to go into the
04:21core of that suffering.
04:25The core of the suffering is the core of your enemy.
04:32That enemy has to be fought against and overcome.
04:37That's the purpose of life.
04:39What is it that keeps nagging me incessantly?
04:47What is it that troubles me so much in this form or that form?
04:52You will get up from the chair and walk out and the chair would cease to be a problem.
04:56But then some other problem will arise.
04:59There is always something or the other to trouble.
05:02Going deeply into the problem means that you want to know the central problem that gives
05:09rise to the various problems.
05:12What is the central problem?
05:13Figure that out.
05:15That central problem is a central weakness, the central limitation.
05:20If you can figure out your central problem, you know the purpose of your life.
05:25If you do not know your central problem, then figuring out the central problem is the purpose
05:29of life.
05:31Full stop.
05:37Do not in any case remain embroiled with superficial problems.
05:45Because the superficial problems are deceptions.
05:49The superficial problems exist so that you can never see the mother problem.
05:57We keep fighting the small problems and the big, huge problem remains hidden.
06:09Stop fighting the little ones, they are pawns.
06:15Fight the mother operator.
06:17See where that queen is and target her.
06:20Firstly, figure it out.
06:22Secondly, overcome her.
06:24That's the purpose of life.
06:26Namaskaram Sir.
06:30I am Sarthak Mehta from 1PA.
06:33My question is, whatever we have planned for success, like if we got success, after that
06:39getting success, we feel like we have failed in some point of time.
06:44So please address this issue.
06:47Simplify it.
06:49I was asking, if we have planned a success, we received it.
06:54But after that success, we took it negatively and we feel like we failed in our lives.
07:01After getting success, it feels like we have failed some point of life.
07:07So that's my question.
07:09That's the reason why goals must be very carefully thought of before you invest yourself
07:19in your goals, else this is the result, rather the punishment.
07:27You will spend a lot of time, let's say two years, chasing something and when you obtain
07:34it, you will find you are still disappointed.
07:39So first of all, you invested two years and now you will have to again invest a lot of
07:44time just remaining in the disappointment.
07:48And you will have to start from scratch, look at something else.
07:53Don't just randomly turn something into your goal or target.
07:59Your target has to be something that is closely related to your internal condition.
08:08If your goals are being dictated by somebody else and then even if you attain those goals,
08:20how can you call that attainment your success?
08:25I used to ask, if a master dispatches a servant to the market to bring some salt or sugar
08:38and the servant successfully brings salt and sugar to the master, would the servant call
08:45himself successful?
08:49The task has been done successfully but what has the servant received?
08:55If at all there has been a success, it belongs to the master, not to the servant.
09:00Don't be a servant.
09:02Don't perform others' tasks.
09:06Don't invest your energy in something that others want you to do.
09:13Otherwise, your failure is your failure and your success is not your success.
09:20That's a bad place to be in.
09:21Where there is failure either side of the result.
09:28You fail, you fail.
09:30You succeed even then you fail.
09:33On the contrary, there is another kind of effort, action and challenge possible where
09:43you know what you really want to do.
09:45You have thought it over.
09:49You have looked into your own mind.
09:53You have talked to as many people as possible to get diverse opinions.
09:57Peacefully, you have taken stock in your aloneness of where you stand and what you need without
10:04being afraid and then you pick up the right challenge for yourself.
10:12When you do that, then even if you fail, you have still succeeded because you took up a
10:18worthy challenge.
10:20So pick up something like that where even failure is a success.
