You may recognize some of the cast of the new Netflix teen series “XO, Kitty” as it's a TV spin-off of the popular “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” franchise. Narcity’s Morgan Leet sat down with stars Anna Cathcart (Kitty) and Anthony Keyvan (Q) to talk about what it was like filming the show in Korea and how their off-screen dynamic was just as wholesome as the onscreen chemistry. Cathcart also reminisces about filming the previous movies in her hometown of Vancouver, and how it compared to this new series.

00:00Well, I was still in high school when I was shooting the movies and I could go to school on my off days and like that
00:04experience was so vastly different than moving to the side of the world and living in Korea for four months and and
00:10Kind of I mean honestly like Kitty just like taking this big step of going on this big adventure
00:15Okay, did the Kitty and Q dynamic come naturally for you guys or was it something discovered once you were on set?
00:21Um a little bit of both. Yeah
00:24Honestly, like when I was in the casting process for all of this
00:27I obviously knew Anna was attached. It was known to the world that she is Kitty so I knew of her but um
00:35We only had met over zoom for like 15 minutes
00:38And it was just like two scenes and there was no getting to know each other whatsoever
00:43No, so I was like, oh my god
00:44I really don't have a feel for her and I'm sure she didn't have a feel for me either
00:47So when I got to Korea, it was like, oh my gosh, but honestly we meshed so well. It was so easy
00:53we are always on the same page about things and it was one of those things were like
00:57We didn't have to communicate how we were feeling if we were in a scene and it didn't feel right
01:01Yeah
01:01exact same wavelength that we could fill in the blanks for each other of like just a look of like yeah
01:06We knew what that men are like. Oh
01:08Like that helps so much and it's like so comforting to know that we have each other's back as well
01:13And I also agree that Q and Kitty's relationship is one of my favorite dynamics on the show
01:17I feel like everyone like wants a friendship like that. I know I do so
01:22It is a special one and I feel like I was so lucky to have you as my Q
01:26Like it's like completely I feel the same
01:30My favorite part about the show is like all of the relationships so dynamic like everybody likes everybody
01:36Who did you guys ship in the show?
01:37Like maybe like after watching like who were you really like rooting for to get together?
01:41I am a huge fan of the enemies to lovers trope. I will say it over and over again
01:47I honestly that's one of my favorite things about the show. So I really want to see her kind of navigate this
01:54New found idea that she has now that Amino has wait, I we can support
02:06His love for Kitty I think that was like kind of came out of left field, you know
02:10It was one of those like will they won't they dynamic?
02:12So I'm curious to see how Kitty can figure out her her feelings towards that
02:18Especially now that she's come to terms with leaving kiss, too
02:20So it's a lot of things up in the air and I'm really excited to see what she does and you guys both
02:25You know traveled to Korea to film this which is a huge deal. How was filming different for you?
02:31Anna from to all the boys loved before which was in your hometown of Vancouver
02:34I mean that already is a huge determining factor of the experience
02:38When I was like in my own bed when I went home like I was in my family house
02:42I was still in high school when I was shooting the movies and I could go to school my off days and like that experience
02:47Was so vastly different than moving to the side of the world and living in Korea for four months and kind of I mean
02:54Honestly like Kitty except like taking this big step of going on this big adventure and facing new challenges and meeting new people
02:59so definitely was a whole new experience and also just a different position of
03:03who my character was in the show and what that meant for me as an actor and me as a person and the things that
03:08Came with that and the responsibilities were majorly different
03:10So it was a very steep learning curve and I very proud of of Kitty and of myself
03:16Definitely feel very very grateful that I got the chance. I've been an actor since I was five years old
03:21So I kind of had the mindset that I really knew what I was doing and I was proven so wrong
03:26I had so much to learn and I'm really grateful for the experience because of that. I feel like yeah
03:31I've grown so much as
03:33As a brother as a friend as an actor as an artist
03:36I feel like that experience in Korea has really transformed me as a person and I'm really grateful to that experience because of that
03:43and also the fact that it was like a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go travel to a foreign country for four months and live there and
03:51Work there. It was it's not something every actor gets to do. So I feel really blessed that we got to do that
03:59Thank you so much
