00:00The Department of Health, or DOH, reported a total of 188 firecracker-related injuries
00:05as of 6 a.m., higher than the 124 cases recorded last year.
00:11One hundred fifty-two victims are aged 19 and below.
00:15One hundred and seventy-two injured are male.
00:17One hundred thirty-two cases, or 72 percent, are due to illegal firecrackers, such as BOGA,
00:24Five Star, and Piccolo, while one hundred and twenty-three, or 65 percent, of cases
00:29are active users.
00:31The Health Department urged the public to avoid firecrackers, report illegal sales,
00:35and keep children away from hazardous items.
00:38Safer alternatives include noisemakers and attending community fireworks displays.
00:44The DOH also advised having a first-aid kit on hand and supervising children.
