00:00What a game Sunday night football was to end out the Sunday slate in week 17 of this NFL regular
00:07season. Two rookie quarterbacks dueling against one another. Two franchises in important spots
00:13near the end of the regular season in our penultimate weekend that do not often see themselves
00:19in prime time against one another. But that's what we had outside the nation's capital in Landover,
00:24the Commanders and the Falcons. And it lived up to the billing. What a wild game it was. Atlanta
00:30led by 10, 17 to 7 at the break. The Commanders fully dominant for most of the second half,
00:37especially the third quarter. Long and lengthy touchdown drives orchestrated by Jaden Daniels.
00:44Washington then had a touchdown lead in the final four minutes of regulation. So what would Michael
00:50Prentice Jr. do in a second career NFL start? Lead his own. Game time touchdown drive connecting
00:56with Kyle Pitts with under two minutes remaining in regulation. The Falcons had a shot to win it.
01:02Riley Patterson from 56, not even close, about six or seven yards short as it landed halfway
01:10in the end zone. So we go to overtime. And what Washington really did throughout the second half,
01:15DRS, they put on display in the extra session in full command. They got the opening kick in OT.
01:22They never gave the football back to Atlanta. Zach Ertz from Jaden Daniels from just a few
01:28yards out to clinch a game and a playoff spot for the Commanders with a rookie quarterback and a
01:35first year head coach in Dan Quinn, 30 to 24, the victory for Washington in overtime. They cover as
01:42a three and a half point home favorite. Yeah, it's always a shame, though, when you get to overtime.
01:47And I understand that the old school heads would say, which I'm supposed to be one of them,
01:51but you play defense. You look at the touchdown. It's not fair if you don't get the football. It's
01:55just not. But the way it plays out, the way it is in the regular season that happened last night.
01:59But also, let's understand this. Atlanta, with terrible on field communication when or not to
02:05call your timeouts, did cost them this game a double digit lead at the break. You get sort of
02:09hosed on that third and long play, which never should have happened on the sack. But also you
02:14had multiple chances to get Washington off the field. You couldn't do that. And by the way,
02:18Atlanta was having their way on the ground. They only had three plays called in the third quarter
02:23alone and then well into the fourth quarter. So they actually got the football back. Washington
02:27was the better team from start to finish. And you worried about Michael Penix in the big moment to
02:32start that game immediately through an interception. But I got to tell you this late in that game,
02:36the most impressive throw you might say was the touchdown pass, you know, over the middle,
02:40which was absolutely sensational. Much need to put it in a small window. Fantastic catch
02:44by Kyle Pitts. But the play that impressed me the most on fourth and long, which was over what
02:49fourth and eleven, I believe it was. Drake London runs it out before his head turns around. That
02:54ball's in the air, perfectly throwing him wide open for a big play. That tells me Michael Penix
02:58Jr. is ready for prime time. They're probably not going to go to the playoffs this year,
03:02but I liked what I saw out of Penix struggling in a big game to start and then resurrecting
03:07that game when everything looked like it was dead and buried to even get them to overtime.
03:11I just wish we would have saw him with the football in overtime to try to finish the deal.
03:15But Jaden Daniels was nothing short of spectacular last night. This isn't a rookie quarterback out
03:20here. The bigness of the moment hasn't gotten him all season. And by the way, maybe Joe behind
03:25the scenes can find this out. They're fourth down conversion percentage on how many times
03:31they went for fourth down, how many times they converted on the season is unbelievably
03:35astronomically ridiculous. Jaden Daniels, what a pick for Washington. He's sensational, man.
