00:00I'm here at Pride Park catching up with some Albion fans about their panic last few days
00:13as Carlos Corberan departs, Albion and the search is on for a new manager. Guys, first
00:18of all, a bit of a bad early Christmas present. What have you made of the departure of Corberan?
00:24Just sum up how you've been feeling over the last few days.
00:26Like he says, the timing's a bit off. Welcome Christmas day. I thought, oh, Merry Christmas.
00:33It's sad. He's done really well. Sad to see him go, but, you know, these things happen.
00:40Going back to his home town, I hear. So, you know, good luck to him. We just need to move
00:46on now and get the right person in to take forward what he's carried on. Just carry on
00:51now, really. I don't know. I'm really thought about it. What do you reckon?
00:55No, well, Merry Christmas, first of all. But what I'd say is, personally, I'm not surprised
00:59by Carlos Corberan going. He did really, really good for us. But the chance of Valencia comes
01:04up, it's not a surprise that he's going to go. And I think for me, I was saying to you
01:07just a minute ago, I think Isabela's still here at the moment. And it wouldn't be a surprise,
01:11because I've seen on the sidelines quite a lot of giving instructions to players, if
01:14he's given them many games. And if he does well, he could maybe even get to the job.
01:17That's what my opinion is. But I hope he doesn't go for the enormous mark while being
01:21I don't mind those managers, but rather Albin going on different...
01:24I mean, I'd test where Malgre is on his situation.
01:27I was going to say that. I was going to say that at that moment.
01:29If he's fit, I'd definitely get Malgre back down here.
01:32A little bit gutted, to be honest with you. Really disappointed that he's gone. But, you
01:37know, onwards and upwards, really. We've just got to see who we get in charge and see what
01:41can happen.
01:42Yeah, we've just been talking about the squad, because his players are starting to come in
01:45now. And now he's left us. He's going to have to be a different manager with someone else's
01:49squad. So hopefully January can be a big one. It'll be very important.
01:53Yeah, so I believe we can do well. But without Corbyn, I think it's going to be a bit of
01:59a drag show. I think I'm going to miss him, definitely. Definitely going to miss him.
02:05Well, I find he's caught in a marshal day, to be perfectly honest with you. Because he's
02:10probably the first manager in my 40 years, and I tweeted this, that I've probably had
02:14as my hero. I've had many players as my hero.
02:16So, of all the managers we've had, Gavin Megson, Scottie Mowbray, he's done fantastic
02:20jobs and created fantastic memories. Carlos is probably the first one, I think because
02:25of what he did with the club and the position it was. You know, we'd get to bed at night
02:30wondering if we had a football club. And Carlos Cromwell, I can't get my words out, Carlos
02:34Cromwell was the comfort blanket. And he led this club through some very worrying times
02:40indeed. And while we was a mess off the pitch, he still made us a success on the pitch, given
02:45when he came in he got us out of the bottom three, obviously nearly achieved the playoffs
02:49in his first season, second season we achieved the playoffs. And here we are today, where
02:53are we? 7th of June, 6th, in a playoffs position. I think that speaks volumes on the back of
03:00all the financial problems, didn't have a lot of money to spend. So I think he's done
03:06an unbelievable job and I'm absolutely gutted, wounded, whatever words you want to use, that
03:10he's departed from the football club.
03:11What's going to be my next question? You know, there's been a lot of speculation and there
03:14will be. We don't know how long it's going to take. Obviously there's the three-pronged
03:17management team in charge at the moment. You know, who stands out for you from the names
03:22kind of circulated at the moment? Who would you kind of like to see?
03:26I would say Bovri. I don't think I'd go with Milic just because he's been here before and
03:33he's sort of dropped off at the end.
03:36Mark Robbins?
03:38I think it might be Mark Robbins or Steve Pippers, but I think it's going to be different
03:41maybe, but probably Bovri, I'd say. I've done some of the reds, some of the blues, but I
03:45don't know.
03:46Or an assistant or something?
03:48Oh, I don't know how much truth is in that. My war one is a different manager. Someone
03:52completely out of the blue that you feel has taken a bit of a gamble on him for some reason.
03:55It's a bit different.
03:56Yeah, who do you reckon?
03:57I mean, Corin's worked once, so he might as well try it again, you know. Maybe, what,
04:01a Croatian bloke?
04:03Oh, I'd say one of those.
04:05Yeah, yeah, yeah. But, like I say, he's gone and we just need to put it right now and just
04:12keep the good work going, what he's done, just keep it going then and not, you know,
04:17have no confidence, keep going forwards.
04:19Well, there's a few, but I think a few are out of our range with wages, like Graham Potter,
04:25David Moyes, etc. I think anyone who wants to come in needs to just be good and strong
04:30and just give their best, really.
04:32It just needs to be someone ready to take a challenge, like Corbyn did when he first
04:36came in, someone who's just ready to knuckle down and get on with what he's got.
04:40Well, really, some of the two or so things are going on now. Some of the two, well, maybe
04:45Graham Potter. You never know. So, fingers crossed. Let's hope things go well anyway.
04:52Brilliant.
04:54Do you know something? I've been that gutted. I haven't had time to think about it. On top
04:57of my head, I know people say, oh, you've got no chance, no chance. I think it'd be
05:01a miss if I was in charge of Football Club, but not least, to pick up the phone to Graham
05:05Potter, even if it's just to say, you know, I think. So, that wouldn't be for me.
05:10On the candidates, obviously, I'm not privy to abroad and all the rest of it. Steve Cooper
05:14seems a real good candidate for me. A proper coach, pretty much like Carlos, done a great
05:18job with him in the 21s. Obviously, the job he did at Forest speaks volumes. I don't think
05:23Leicester are any better for his departure. So, as he speaks, I'll probably be Steve Cooper.
