00:00This is the latest news in the Philippines. I am your host, Adam Damag, for PTV Cordillera.

00:14The Department of Health Cordillera has listed four firework-related injuries as of December 25, 2024.

00:21Four firework-related injuries were reported in Baguio City on Monday.

00:27The first case was reported on December 22, when four firework-related injuries were reported within 24 hours.

00:34In 2007, 44 people were injured, including men and women.

00:39Three people sustained eye injuries and two people sustained burns and injuries.

00:47A campaign was launched by the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office against illegal fireworks.

00:54As of January and November 2020, more than 600 fireworks were launched voluntarily by the PNA.

01:51These fireworks that we see this morning are the results of our extensive campaign to contain the proliferation of those fireworks, including those that are unlicensed, in order to maintain a peaceful atmosphere prior, during, and after elections this coming 2025.

02:14According to the Ilocos Region Police Regional Director, Brigadier General Lufrias Evangelista, this is the third time that the PNA-Pangasinan Police Provincial Office has participated in this campaign.

02:28The goal for the upcoming elections is simple but vital, to create an atmosphere where every citizen can exercise their right to vote without fear.
