00:00It's expected to be a scorcher here in Adelaide tomorrow for Christmas Day.
00:05A top of 37 degrees is forecast and then on Boxing Day in the city we're expecting a windy
00:11top of 33 as a cool change sweeps across the state.
00:15The Country Fire Service has already issued extreme fire danger for five districts tomorrow
00:20including the Adelaide metropolitan area, the Mount Lofty Ranges and the York Peninsula.
00:25There's also extreme fire danger forecast for several districts on Boxing Day mostly
00:31across eastern parts of the state.
00:33Now these are only preliminary forecasts so at this stage they're only a guide as these
00:37ratings could still change but we are expecting to get some sort of update from the CFS on
00:43the situation later today.
00:45South Australian fire crews have already been on high alert.
00:48Only last night crews worked to contain an uncontrolled blaze in Onkaparinga Hills near
00:53Woodcroft.
00:54That fire prompted a Watch and Act message which meant residents were advised to leave
00:59the area but aerial bombers worked with crews to control the blaze at around seven o'clock
01:03last night.
01:05Total fire bans can be imposed at either catastrophic or extreme fire ratings.
01:10As I said we are expecting the CFS to provide an announcement as to whether those ratings
01:15will be upgraded or if total fire bans will be imposed.
01:19The Bureau this morning has already said that catastrophic fire danger is still a possibility
01:24especially on Boxing Day in some parts of the state temperatures are expected to climb
01:29above 40 degrees.
01:31So Gemma it's definitely a time for all South Australians to be vigilant.
