Naz Rahman Bengal Brasserie in Belfast throws open his restaurant doors to people alone on Christmas Day. He tells News Letter reporter Iain Gray why he was inspired to serve free festive feasts and why he loves the community on Ormeau Road.

00:07we put all the staff together
00:09so finally the people are
00:11we have a care home
00:13where finally people are
00:15standing outside the restaurants
00:17and we invite them in
00:19they said come and join us with our
00:21the milk, it's milk
00:23and a few people came in so we just thought
00:25why don't we open for
00:27everybody because I got so much from the community
00:29I grew up inside
00:31Ormal Road and I guess
00:33but
00:35I would like to give back something to the community
00:37and if I can be a little help
00:39or anybody
00:41I think that people are
00:43needed, I think a bit of
00:45welcoming and people have
00:47Christmas Day, a lot of people
00:53doesn't have anybody or
00:55need some bit of support or
00:57a bit of
00:59talking to them I think makes them

01:05because I grew up by myself
01:09had nobody
01:11so I know how hard it is sometimes
01:13especially these good occasions
01:15and celebrations
01:17we should all get together and enjoy it
01:19and celebrate together
