As music has the power to bring together people of different nationalities and backgrounds, a group of students from China Conservatory of Music sought to foster ties between China and Malaysia through a concert performance at UCSI University in Kuala Lumpur recently.

00:00A group of students from the China Conservatory of Music held a special concert at UCSI University
00:14in Kuala Lumpur recently.
00:17The performers showcased ten classic compositions, including Dance of the Golden Snake and Elegant
00:23Orchid in Spring.
00:33They said not only they wanted to promote traditional Chinese musical instruments and
00:37melodies, but also break through the language barrier to enhance the relationship between
00:43Malaysia and China through their performance.
00:46They said they hoped that both countries can have more musical events and more Malaysians
00:51will consider studying in China for cultural exchanges.
00:56The university's Institute of Music director, Dr. Peng Tin Hua, said while it is important
01:02to embrace new changes, both countries should not stop honouring their roots, which are
01:07the foundation where new creations are built.
01:10He said the concert can become the catalyst for further exploration of traditional Chinese
01:15music.
01:17The concert marked the beginning of the partnership between the university and China Conservatory
01:22of Music.
01:29At the event, both sides also signed a memorandum of understanding on their collaboration for
01:34short-term educational programs, student exchanges, mutual visits and joint research and development.
