00:00All right, welcome back and we are at Mesa Country Club. Trent Ryan famously shot a career best 87
00:05here just a few weeks ago. Mesa Country Club underwent a full restoration earlier this year,
00:10was closed for about nine months, just reopened and it's fantastic. The bunkering, the greens,
00:15just the general shape of the whole place. They did a fantastic job. They reshaped nearly all
00:20the greens. They rerouted three of the holes and it's excellent. We are going to start playing the
00:24blue tees. We're going to start here on the 508 yard 13th hole. This is a dogleg left that goes
00:30over the road and then all the way uphill for the last hundred yards or so. Setting up to hit a draw
00:34up the right side and just hit a block out to the right into the wrong, just the wrong fairway. So
00:40I don't even know how far we've gotten from here. I grabbed a six iron. The guys on the hole that I
00:45hit it into hadn't quite teed off yet. So I was trying to rush over there and hit from their
00:49fairway before they got up and I had to wait and make it awkward and weird. So I just hit a six
00:55iron. I actually hit it pretty good, but I believe I hit a tree and it kicked backwards and to the
01:00right. So for this par five, we're a little bit struggling. We're a little bit behind the eight
01:04ball here. A couple of smooth swings actually, just maybe a little bit open face, sending it
01:08out to the right. Not quite shaping it the way that we would like to, but luckily we're dressed
01:11the way we'd like to be. I got to talk about the Holdridge family of sweaters from Peter Millar.
01:16They feature a blend of ultra ultra soft Merino wool and a luxury performance material provides
01:23wind water resistance without the bulk of traditional outerwear. It's that perfect time
01:27of year in the summer or in the winter time here in Arizona. It's a little crisp out as you get
01:31into the evenings and in the mornings. I've got the vest on here, but later on I'm going to throw
01:35on the full zip sweater as well. The gray one, because why not mix it up? But PeterMillar.com
01:40slash foreplay. You can check out the entire Holdridge family as well as the rest of Peter
01:44Millar's sweater lineup for this winter. Be sure to check out their annual holiday gift guide as
01:49well for the perfect gifts for everyone on your list. A little bit of an awkward situation here
01:53as we are just off the backside of the par 3 16th hole hitting, you know, the green. If you can look
01:59up there, the green is just right of those bunkers on the left. So I've got to hit over these young
02:04men playing this par 3. I got a seven iron. I thought it was about 160 or so. I wasn't 100%
02:10sure. And again, I'm just trying to get out of this situation. I'm trying not to hit this tree.
02:14I'm trying not to hit these people. I'm trying not to embarrass myself. Hit a seven iron, kind of pull,
02:19drew it a little bit and just caught that bunker. Not the worst spot. We got a chance for an up and
02:24down here after again, quite a bit of an embarrassing situation. A quick little zoom
02:27in, look at the bunkering. They did a great job with the re-bunkering instead of kind of the big
02:31circular, boring looking bunkers. They're a lot more artistic. They sort of carve into the landscape.
02:36Some maces looking good. We got a back right pin here, kind of a bowl. So I got a 54 degree wedge
02:40so I can swing less hard and kind of get it all the way back there. Actually hit a pretty good
02:45effort here. Got it left of the pin. It took that slope, took that bowl and got just behind the pin.
02:49Left ourselves a ticklish one down the hill. I really wasn't sure on this read. I thought it was
02:54going to kind of kick off this knob on the left. And then at the end, maybe come back a little bit
02:58to the right. Hit a pretty good putt, a little aggressive. It just never kicked right at all.
03:01Hung on the left side and missed. Get down there. Now this one's the one you really got to bear down
03:06and not mess up. But luckily we didn't. Cleaned it up. That's a bogey. We now move on to the brand
03:10new par 4 14th hole at Mesa. This used to be about a 230 or so yard par 3. Now it's a 316 yard par 4
03:18from the Blue Tees. Step up with the driver. Try to hit a better one than we did the last time.
03:23Pretty smooth swing there. Hit that one well. Kind of hit a little knuckler. So it went up the left
03:26side. It was kind of a pull, slight cut knuckler. Got up the left side and got all the way up there
03:31to only about 20 or 30 yards away from the green. I think the gun had it to this kind of backish
03:35pin at about 36 yards. So we hit that one pretty good. I got just a little, uh, you know, a little
03:40lob wedge here. Uh, greens are firm coming off the redo, so they're not quite fully settled yet. So
03:45just figured if I pitch this onto kind of the front middle part of the green, it should trundle all
03:49the way back there. And that was kind of exactly what it did. Roll back to about pin high. So we
03:53got ourselves a good look for birdie here to get back to even par on this little three hole video.
03:58Kind of think it's going to move just a little bit left to right. Under read it just a fraction.
04:02I broke a little more than I thought. So I've caught the right edge, but did not catch the
04:06hole. That is one over through three. We now move to the 15th hole where you kind of have to shape
04:11it a little bit left to right off the tee. It just ever so slightly dog legs to the right. So setting
04:16up to kind of hit one up the right center. And once again, similar to that tee shot on 13, just
04:21kind of open face, hit it decently out to the right, caught some trees, lost some yardage, but
04:25we got up there. We don't have the worst angle into the screen. It was about 135 into this par
04:30kind of got to just fly everything on the way there. And then the greens are a little firm.
04:34So I tried to just choke down and take a little bit off of a nine iron here. I hit it decently,
04:39but never really got it all the way up in the air. Took a little bit too much off. It didn't
04:43quite send it up in the air enough. And it just barely caught the green side bunker. Got a pretty
04:47straightforward bunker shot clubhouse in the background, long shadow. So it's beautiful out
04:50there. Amazing country club. We've now got the holdridge sweater, full sweater, by the way,
04:55this thing is just all class pwr.com slash foreplay. Pretty good bunker shot there a
04:59little bit deep, but you know, nice tempo, nice strike. We've got ourselves a look at par here
05:04on the final hole of this three hole video. We will, by the way, be posting another video of
05:0916, 17 and 18. So stay tuned for that last one for a nice little up and down to remain one over
05:14on this three hole stretch. Pretty pathetic effort there. Once again, kind of under Reddit,
05:18didn't really have much conviction, much integrity to that stroke, but all integrity with the
05:22holdridge family sweater line. Go check them out at pwr.com slash foreplay and shout out to
05:28Mesa looking great these days. We'll be back for the final three holes in the next video series.
