00:00The transfer portal is very, very active right now.
00:07So some of the biggest names that have entered the portal and found a new destination already
00:12this week, we bring to you here with some coaching news as well.
00:17It's one of the realities that we deal with in this new landscape, of course, of CFP.
00:21There is always an eye on the future of EC guy, even as we celebrate the present in the
00:27future and Norman got a little bit better in the last week or so.
00:32Ben Arbuckle, the very promising offensive coordinator from Wazoo, heads to Norman to
00:36be the OC under Brent Venables and who comes along with him as we learn late this week,
00:42John McTeer is on his way to Norman, Oklahoma, one of your favorite quarterbacks this year
00:48in FBS college football.
00:50Lacy guy, what will he do now in the SEC for OU?
00:53I think bring an attitude that we've seen back in the days of Baker may feel back to
00:57Norman, right?
00:58Jackson Arnold was a five-star recruit, but held the football way too long, a little bit
01:02inexperienced in the reads and progressions and not as athletic as John McTeer.
01:06He's an athletic quarterback that can run the football, take schemes over at any given
01:11time.
01:12Texas Tech, he dominated in terms of that matchup on the ground and he has an above-average arm.
01:16And now with Arbuckle in that offense, I think Oklahoma gets back to potentially a nine or
01:22a 10 win season with John McTeer.
01:24The biggest thing too, we talk about attitude.
01:26His ability to never quit and just elevate those teammates around him.
01:30Did it at Wazoo, gonna do it in Norman, Kev.
01:34I'm actually really excited as well by the move because I think when you look at OU this
01:38season, again, that is one of the 25 easily best defenses in college football, right?
01:47They didn't have the quarterback room even remotely at the level.
01:51Now I know John McTeer played at Wazoo.
01:53What I like about McTeer is it wasn't one dimensional, it was in the bigger games, got
02:00a little bit of this, a little bit of that, right?
02:02Like his performance against Texas Tech, it was the ground game that wowed you.
02:05The game against Boise, and look, I know they didn't play great, but he throws for 300 plus
02:09complete 70% of his passes there.
02:12So those are the type of things that I think you like to see.
02:16Also, if I'm not mistaken, lead FBS in total touchdowns at 44?
02:22I mean, no matter where you are, I think that's pretty darn relevant that he was able to give
02:29you a 29 air and 15 ground.
02:33Especially if that offensive scheme is going to be the thing that you have congruency in,
02:37even in a new spot, but season over season.
02:40We had 22 passers this year at the FBS level.
02:43Throw for more than 3,000 yards, John McTeer being one of them.
02:47Nobody else ran for more than 750.
02:50John McTeer had 826 yards on the ground.
02:55A big get for OU.
02:56I will be fascinated by their win total because it was seven entering this year.
03:00Kev, you were right on the under of that back in the summer here on College Football today.
03:06They had a very difficult schedule.
03:08They were not the beneficiaries of entering the Southeastern Conference like their former
03:13Big 12 foe in Texas.
03:15They were good in spots, but close at just 6-6.
03:18Will be really interesting to see that year-over-year improvement, perhaps with an easier SEC slate
03:24in 2025.
03:26Another quarterback to know in the portal, as you saw that list there.
03:29We can go through each and every one, but Kev, a new move I know you were very excited
03:33by.
03:34Caden Salter, a guy that, much like John McTeer during his time at Liberty, can do a little
03:38bit through the air and a lot on the ground as well.
03:42Coming to Boulder to play under Deion Sanders.
03:44Juju Lewis, the second-rated quarterback prospect in the 2025 class.
03:49Also headed to Colorado, Deion Sanders seems to be building in Boulder after a very successful
03:55nine-win season.
03:56I cannot stress enough where we were at a moment in this year and where we are now.
04:02Their opening game is against North Dakota State, who we'll actually talk about in a
04:05little bit.
04:07I understand they're great at the FCS level.
04:10They're good at Colorado, can't cover, can't extend, defensive disaster.
04:15The next week, Nebraska destroys them.
04:19And I personally was like, all right, well, we know Shador and Travis are leaving.
04:24And if this season is going to unravel, remember the preseason expectations paired with the
04:28first two games, okay, I don't think ... Colorado was now not expected to make a bowl game.
04:34Deion is now one of the major power brokers in this sport.
04:40I know quarterbacks were highlighting the number one defensive portal player ends up
04:45in Boulder.
04:46The fact that he brings in Juju Lewis and can go, hey, you're not going to start right
04:51away.
04:52And Lewis is like, you know, good Deion, that's fine, you're going to get me to the NFL.
04:57I know Shador's a special player, but now Deion can go, yeah, this is what I do.
05:01If you're special, you're going to the top five if you play at my program.
05:06It is remarkable to see what Deion Sanders has done at Colorado.
05:11Anyone who's, oh, we're going to follow the Deion blueprint, good luck, because it's once
05:15in a lifetime, it feels like.
05:16Yeah, that's what Belichick is trying to do in North Carolina.
05:19We'll see if he can implement that this season.
05:21What's intriguing about Caden Salter, and you're talking about a quarterback a couple
05:25years ago, 32 touchdowns through the air, and he also rushed for 1,000 yards, right?
05:30That's an added dimension that they didn't have what Shador Sanders, right?
05:34They had one of the worst rushing attacks in back-to-back years in all of college football
05:38because they chucked it.
05:40What does this bring to the offensive identity now with potentially Caden Salter in that
05:45offense, right?
05:46Dual threat, RPO game, how can he elevate his game, not just in terms of the passing
05:51attack?
05:52That's what I want to see play out in the Big 12.
05:53His quarterbacking style is not that of Shador Sanders.
05:57In fact, it was not the offensive scheme generated by Pat Shermer this past year in Boulder as
06:03well.
06:04They've adapted now with their talent.
06:05You mentioned Jaheim Otis, one of those great interior defensive linemen from Alabama, now
06:11headed to Boulder as well.
06:13He's pulling from Bama?
06:15I mean, I know Bama guys are hitting the portal, but come on.
06:18Listen, Deion is there to stay, as we are learning in real time.
06:23I am fascinated, as I mentioned, Oklahoma's potential preseason win total.
06:28Is Colorado going to have ... I'm going to ask this, is Colorado going to be the favorite
06:32to win the Big 12 next year?
06:33I'd be really surprised if they're not.
06:34I mean, unless Cam Rising comes back.
06:36No, that I'm actually not kidding about, unless he's like officially not coming back.
06:40He's got Devon Dampier, so I think they're going to ...
06:42Oh, that's right.
06:43That's right.
06:44That's right.
06:45Kato's house invite.
06:46Kato's house invite.
06:47Wow.
