00:00to crystal ball looking ahead looking ahead meteorologist joe lumberg uh joe by the way
00:05as we get to uh what are we 2025 you and i will then be working 35 years together
00:14on september 4th 2025 what a 35 years you and i've run our 35th year now that's right that's
00:20unbelievable okay well right 20 yeah it'll be 35 yeah what what we have learned in those 35 years
00:25yeah we learned that there's still more to learn let's take a look at the three things about next
00:30week yeah here's the three things i want you to know and learn about next week obviously the cold
00:34air is going to be brutal this weekend and into monday morning but with time the high that produces
00:40it will start to retreat and the cold air will go with it with time however as we make the transition
00:45looks like some wintry weather across parts of the northeast and then a parade of storms across
00:51the northwest bernie i think i've counted like six or seven different systems between now
00:56and next weekend coming into the northwest you can see the net effect of it the parade of storms
01:00into sunday the precipitation totals i mean we're talking multiple inches and obviously in the
01:05cascades and the sierra we're talking beneficial snows for these places great for the skiers great
01:11for the aquifers although not so great if you're doing some traveling along the holiday you know
01:16overall though joe once we get rid of this cold air in the east as it begins to ease the weather
01:23pattern in the northeast not as stormy but we are tracking some storms next week we are indeed in
01:28fact one of them i think is going to come through this area monday afternoon and monday night and
01:33then through the northeast on tuesday there's going to be some snow in these areas and enough
01:38to cause some problems so if you're doing some traveling monday monday night and tuesday say
01:42from detroit over toward the boston area expect some slow going meanwhile to the south you'll see
01:46a couple of opportunities for rain after that first system leaves the northeast we kind of think that
01:51high pressure kind of retreat takes over again and it dries things out but it won't be anywhere near
01:56as cold as it is meanwhile the parade of systems into the northwest will continue unabated throughout
02:02the christmas week i know you and the long range team always like to give us a little nugget of
02:06information let's say well beyond so christmas is next week let's go to the following week as we
02:13take a look at the new year's eve uh day new year's day pattern yeah as you look at the big picture
02:19going into the last couple of days of 2024 and into 2025 the jet stream will be pretty far north
02:24but there'll be a growing trough in the nation's midsection something like this as we go toward new
02:29year's eve a storm is likely to come up this way on new year's day produce rain on its eastern side
02:34maybe some snow and ice on the northwest side but watch out cold air is going to follow that
02:38and don't be surprised if the first week of new year's you see some snow in the east
