00:00I just want to start by asking you for your thoughts on what Ahmad al-Shara has been saying
00:04to the British media.
00:05Yeah, well, good morning, I think, to you.
00:10Yes, I heard the interview that al-Shara gave to Jeremy Boehn last night, and I agree, I
00:18think, with what you were saying, that he seemed to be taking considerable pains to
00:23show that his organisation, HTS, is no longer what we would call a jihadi or certainly terrorist
00:31organisation, that it wants to be inclusive and bring all Syrians into the new government.
00:41And you referred earlier to elections.
00:44They have said that they want to do elections within, I can't remember, I think it's three
00:48months or so.
00:51All that is the right noises.
00:55Obviously, it's important to see what happens in reality on the ground, but I certainly
01:02don't detect so far any signs other than that they do genuinely want to establish an inclusive
01:10and one would hope democratic government based on a constitution, as the UN envoy has requested.
