00:00This is the Visayan Leopard Cat, also known as Maral, can be found in Negros and Panay Islands and is considered vulnerable or endangered in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species of 2008.
00:16A Visayan Leopard Cat in the new-looking polymer banknotes of Banco Central.
00:22It is the endangered and native species of animals and flowers, wild animals, and native hobbies in the Philippines.
00:31This is what the new polymer banknotes look like or what we will see in circulation starting next week.
00:38Aside from Php 1,000 for the Philippine Eagle, the Visayan Spotted Deer, Palawan Peacock Pheasant, Php 100, and the Visayan Leopard Cat, Php 50, are for the Php 500 bill.
00:55The first Philippine polymer banknote series is smarter, cleaner, and stronger.
01:03Smarter because they have advanced anti-counterfeiting features and a smaller carbon footprint.
01:11Cleaner because viruses and bacteria do not survive on polymer as long as they do on paper.
01:19And stronger because they last longer than their paper counterparts.
01:24And if they do get dirty, you can easily wipe them off with a damp cloth without any damage to the banknote whatsoever.
01:33Another key advantage is security.
01:36Counterfeiting has always been a problem for economies around the world.
01:40But polymer banknotes are a notable progressive change.
01:45Their advanced security features make it more difficult to replicate.
01:49Starting December 23, new banknotes can be obtained from banks.
01:54But this is limited to the Greater Manila Area.
01:57In January, the circulation will be expanded throughout the country.
02:01According to the BSP, old paper can still be used.
02:05This is a bubble plant.
02:07It's made of plastic so it can really be damaged.
