Rail union secretary Toby Warnes says commuters deserve a government that values public transport. Video via AAP.
Transcript
00:00Our message to the government is our door is open for the next two weeks at least to
00:05get this deal done.
00:06All we've ever wanted is to get the deal done.
00:11Come and talk to us and we'll finish this and let the people of NSW get on with their
00:17festive season.
00:18We understand how commuters feel.
00:21We say to the commuters that they deserve a government that values its public transport
00:26system and right now it does not have one.
00:29Sydney Trains had two weeks to prepare for this eventuality.
00:33Our understanding is that they haven't, so there may be significant impacts on the network
00:38from now until at least the end of the day when Sydney Trains are able to recover.
00:42We can't tell, as I said, how Sydney Trains will respond to industrial action coming back
00:48on this quickly, but as I said, Sydney Trains had two weeks to prepare for this.
00:54If they haven't done that, then it's on them and the government.
