00:00No, I think, and I know we have the sound of Steve Kerr talking about Podjemski, and
00:06I think he's, you know, he's trying to window dressing this as an opportunity for pods,
00:11but we know what it really is, which is they don't like him as a point guard, or they like
00:19him as a guard on the floor with another point guard, let's put it that way.
00:25But it just speaks to life in pro sports.
00:28And again, Pods' career is not over at all, Stunny, but when you have the owner in the
00:33offseason coming off a campaign, Pods did, of making the all-rookie team, you're taking
00:39charges, your owner says you're untouchable, or so we think, that gets out.
00:45And you know, that would make me sleep with a finger in my mouth, like, man, this is all
00:49good.
00:51And then we're not even halfway through the second sophomore year, and there's some turbulent,
00:56like, and my point in all that is, Stunny, things change fast and in a hurry.
01:01And Pods is going to try to go out there and be the best version he can, but how many calls
01:06do we take?
01:07People mad that he felt like he was getting a scholarship that he didn't earn.
01:10Well, they took it away.
01:12And that, there it is.
01:14This is Joe Lacob on the TK podcast, talking about acquiring Schroeder.
01:19Obviously, we, you know, since the beginning of the season, we've had a hard time taking
01:24care of the ball and initiating offense without Steph, late in games at times, and I think
01:28we missed Melton.
01:29We were better with Melton.
01:31So I think he's a pretty good proxy for him.
01:34He's having a great year, actually.
01:36He's always killed the Warriors.
01:37You know, we identified him and went after him, obviously.
01:40We thought Brooklyn was a good target for this, and we got a deal then.
01:45So we're actually real happy with him.
01:47That was Joe Lacob talking to Tim Calipari.
01:50They were.
01:51Man, the Warriors' luck is golden, right?
01:52And Stein, just the fact that whatever's going on in Brooklyn, this player was available
01:57at his price changes the direction of this season for the Warriors, I believe.
02:02Ah, this is from the 908.
02:05With all due respect, that means an insult's coming.
02:09Come on now.
02:10I'm married.
02:11Guru is delusional.
02:12Schroeder is a good player.
02:14Not an all-star.
02:15Not a lead.
02:16In fairness, I've been talking Schroeder up, too.
02:18But Milton wasn't any of those, either.
02:20There's still a mid-40s win team and a 7 or 8 seed.
02:26If they want to be a top 4 to 5, they need to trade for a star player.
02:30I don't know.
02:32I don't know.
02:33We gotta let it play out.
02:34And I know the season's not 12 games, but they were off to that start, playing that
02:39defense which still hasn't left them, wasn't on display Sunday night.
02:43So I'm back excited.
02:46I just am.
02:47A couple things about the Schroeder thing where I think he should help.
02:52And I wrote a bunch of these down.
02:54And if you think Schroeder's going to help, I want to know how.
02:58Here's one area where I think he can really help.
03:03And that is, get Steph Curry going at the beginning of a game.
03:11For years, it seems like the time Steph comes out and plays, for the most part, like a point
03:19guard.
03:20The first six minutes.
03:21He assesses the game, sees if anybody's hot, gets the ball to, remember the last game with
03:27Wiggins against Dallas?
03:29They went to Wiggins early.
03:30And then the next thing you know, Curry's coming out for a sub with five and a half
03:33minutes left.
03:34And you're like, he took one shot.
03:36But Luka took eight.
03:38Exactly.
03:39So...
03:40Steph was like, come on!
03:41I mean, to me, this is a way where Schroeder can make it a point, like, Steph doesn't want
03:48to get himself involved right off the bat.
03:51But Schroeder now can be the guy who tries to get Steph going early.
03:57Which I think they need.
03:58Oh, there's no doubt, Matt.
04:00Here's the other thing.
04:01If you're going to live and die with Steph and Draymond, then you've got to set a tone
04:06offensively and defensively.
04:09I do think we're probably headed toward Draymond starting again.
04:13I was just going to ask that question, Matt.
04:15We'll see if it works, but now we've got a decision to make about who's starting alongside
04:22him.
04:23Uh, Looney.
04:25Or Trace Jackson-Davis.
04:26Yeah.
04:27888-957-9570 is the number.
04:34Am I, you know, forget Guru for a minute.
04:38It's easy to do.
04:40No, no, I just mean, Guru's not the guy saying, this is a great trade.
04:46I'm saying it too.
04:48And I don't know how it's going to play out, but I just love all the reasons they did it.
04:55And to me, I'm not saying, what I respect most about it is that it feels like the Warriors
05:05have come to the conclusion that it can't work with Steph doing what he's doing with
05:13this particular team.
05:15And there's an acknowledgement there that, you know, there's two ways to get this team
05:21better.
05:22One is to put better players around Steph.
05:25And then the other is to take more off Steph's plate and allow somebody to do some of the
05:31things that Steph can do.
05:33Maybe the overall position becomes more efficient.
05:37So I really like the move.
05:40I'm interested to see him defensively.
05:43I know he plays with an edge, which isn't going to hurt the Warriors.
05:47So I think this has a chance to be a move that does impact winning.
05:52I really do.
05:53And I hope I'm not, I hear you, I'm right behind you, and I hope I'm not coming off
05:56just to the guy that's sending the text that I'm saying Schroeder is Kobe.
06:00It's not that.
06:01It's what was going on and the attrition that was setting in early and we could all see
06:06it.
06:07And again, it's the twofold, Stani.
06:10You talked about taking things off Curry's plate, but when you got a bona fide number
06:15two, that can happen naturally to where everybody benefits.
06:19And that's what I'm excited about.
06:22And Stani, I'm telling you, man, Sunday when I got done watching that game, that was the
06:26one loss.
06:27That lightweight felt like a win because I said, had they not, or have we not had a
06:32Schroeder and just the possibilities on the horizon to get excited about?
06:38I really, really wasn't liking what we were seeing from a team that had gone two and eight
06:43in their last 10 scrapping and clawing, but it just felt like they were missing something.
06:48And now I just, do you, I will ask BG, do you think, and nobody cares here in Golden
06:55State, the fact that a guy like a Schroeder was available for the price because Brooklyn's
07:01tanking, can that be good for the, it's good for the Warriors.
07:05Is it good for the league?
07:06No, of course not.
07:08And that's another, it's just, that's another, I can't believe they got on the fire of crap.
07:16Wow.
07:17And I may, I may turn a gripe into a segment at some point today because you got the one
07:23of the year.
07:24Even dibs told you that with the, uh, Stein, he doesn't, he doesn't think Dennis Schroeder
07:28will help.
07:29Well, she literally just said the opposite.
07:30I mean, I don't cry, I could be wrong.
07:36Maybe he won't.
07:37Maybe he won't make a, maybe he won't make a difference, but I think he's got to crack.
07:45I think he's got a great chance of, of helping this team.
07:48Yeah.
07:49And the other thing is, here's what I like, a point to aggrandize myself.
07:53Sorry, you just called yourself a great basketball mind.
07:58Draymond and I both agree.
08:00So you're coming off the bench.
08:02No, no.
08:03You know, everybody looks at coming.
08:04Oh, he doesn't fit.
08:06Well, when basketball minds like Draymond and I look at coming to, we say, no, he does
08:11fit because he does something nobody else does.
08:16And he said the same thing about Schroeder.
08:19Schroeder's going to give him something they don't have.
08:21But I never heard Draymond talk about making it mesh or fit in with Kaminga.
08:27Well, we'll work with you like he did Schroeder.
08:30And that was just poetic the way that he said it.
08:33We're not, we're going to, we're going to play.
08:34We need what you're bringing.
08:35I've never heard him say that about JK.
08:37JK was like, he had to learn the system, but I'm all systems.
08:41You didn't have to say it about Kaminga.
08:43The fans were saying, well, the fans have been saying, well, he's a one-on-one guy.
08:46He's not a team guy.
08:48Well, sometimes you need a one-on-one player.
08:50And I love that they're not playing Brooklyn or the Bulls.
08:54I love that it's Memphis.
08:57Let's go to Bill in American Canyon.
09:00Hey, Bill, what's going on, man?
09:03Not much.
09:03I just want to say, I think that thing with Schroeder, that's an awesome move
09:08that they made.
09:08That's just a great move.
09:10Yeah.
09:12Where I have a problem with the Warriors is they don't use Curry the right way
09:15to me.
09:16They burned him out.
09:17With Schroeder there, it's going to take a lot of pressure off Curry.
09:20The guy, Schroeder can play.
09:22That's all there is to it.
09:24The doubters let him doubt.
09:25Watch what he gets on the Corn Stars playing.
09:28You'll see.
09:28Because I followed Schroeder when he was a younger guy.
09:30And he just had to get more experience and better.
09:33And he's there now.
09:34And he's tough.
09:35He ain't no wimp.
09:36Yeah, he ain't no wimp.
09:37Yeah.
09:39And you guys were earlier talking about the pick and rolls.
09:41I have one question that's out there to anybody out there.
09:45Why in the heck, I'll say heck, I almost swear,
09:48they don't set more screens for Curry?
09:50Oh my god.
09:51They just be doing stupid stuff with triple screens.
09:53Oh my god.
09:53Mooney.
09:54Yeah.
09:55You got the best shooter in the game.
09:59And you do not get him open enough.
10:01He got to do his little jerky, herky, jerky, one-on-one.
10:03Set screens for the man and let him shoot the ball.
10:07They don't do that.
10:09They don't do that at all.
10:10Appreciate it, Bill.
10:10Thanks for the call.
10:12I know you're a connoisseur.
10:14I don't think the team sets more picks for a player.
10:16I was just in Louis.
10:18If you had to guess, and I know you and Evan know this,
10:21Looney's, take a playoff Google.
10:24Relax.
10:24Why are you even talking about Looney?
10:26Schroeder, from deep, his percentage.
10:29Oh, he's up around 40, I think.
10:3038, 39, and free throw, 89.
10:33Yeah, they became a better free throw shooting team.
10:36He doesn't get to line a ton, but he gets there once
10:38in a while.
10:38Now, that was the best part.
10:39Nobody, what made me say what I'm about to say?
10:42I don't know what you're about to say.
10:44My high school career, when I went to the line, I made them.
10:47Wasn't often.
10:49But when I got there, I made them.
10:50Making them or going to the line?
10:51I'm making them when I went to the line.
10:55He's looking at me like, who is this dude?
10:57Oh, I know who you are.
10:59I know who you are.
11:00Chris Paul II.
11:01He may be our true 5-1-0.
11:03He may be our Drew Holiday, how he was for the Bucs
11:06or Celtics.
11:07Oh, that's a great call.
11:07He'll help a lot.
11:08Hopefully, he will help other players besides Curry score.
11:12It's optimistic.
11:13Yeah.
11:14Hey, but it's Clint Eastwood.
11:16I mean, Drew Holiday, to me, this might be controversial.
11:20He's a Hall of Famer.
11:21That's not.
11:22Well.
11:23If Iggy was a Hall of Famer, or we even brought that up,
11:26this dude's at the Hall.
11:27Come on, now.
11:29Milwaukee's figured life out without him.
11:31They didn't found something.
11:32Well, you said they were washed and done at 2 and 8.
11:35Doc didn't get it to the lab.
11:37I think.
11:37They're playing defense now.
11:39Well, the other thing I think we have to acknowledge about
11:41the Warriors' 10 and 2 start.
11:43And it doesn't mean anything now,
11:44but how many teams in the league don't even start playing?
