02:01On Thursday, December 12, Education Secretary Sonny Angara expresses his disappointment
02:05over the Php10 billion budget cut for the DepEd Computerization Program, or DCP.
02:10He says the cut could have funded thousands of gadgets for public school children.
02:14DepEd's budget was cut by Php12 billion after last week's bicameral conference.
02:19The cut lowers the 2025 budget allocation to Php737 billion from the president's proposed
02:25Php748.65 billion.
02:30The Philippine Senate ratifies a Reciprocal Access Agreement, or RRA, with Japan on Monday,
02:35December 16.
02:37This will allow militaries to deploy to each other's territories amid concerns about China's
02:41aggressiveness in the region.
02:43The agreement, a first of its kind that Japan signed in Asia, will facilitate the entry
02:47of equipment and troops for combat training and disaster relief.
02:51It will improve the military cooperation between Manila and Tokyo.
02:55All 19 senators present voted to approve the deal, with Japanese Ambassador Kazuya Endo
02:59in attendance.
03:01The agreement was signed in July by the defense and foreign ministers of both countries, but
03:05requires parliamentary approval to take effect.
03:08The Philippines and Japan, two of the United States' closest allies in Asia, opposed China's
03:12growing assertiveness and expressed concerns over Taiwan's trade tensions.
03:17Japan has its own maritime dispute with China in the East China Sea, where the two countries
