00:00Welcome to Mediane TV and Zoom in this chronicle on the Marrakech Short Film Festival,
00:15which is celebrating its 5th anniversary in 2025.
00:19And for us to talk about this young festival, which is starting to grow,
00:24I have the pleasure and honor to have with me Ramia Bladl,
00:27who is the founding president of this festival.
00:31Ramia Bladl, thank you very much for accepting our invitation.
00:34Five years already, what memories do you have of these first years?
00:38Hello Ilham, thank you very much for this invitation.
00:41Thank you always for your interest and your support of the Marrakech Short Film Festival.
00:46What I personally keep is rather the dreams that we have a little bit exhausted,
00:51of the young directors.
00:52It is rather the first moments that we have shared with these young directors
00:57who aspire to professionalization, who aspire to share their work with a committee,
01:04with an audience, with professionals.
01:06And above all, also exploits and partnerships,
01:11and also sponsors and marines,
01:14of whom we are really very, very proud at the Marrakech Short Film Festival.
01:17I remember the first edition.
01:19In any case, your sponsor at the time and president of the jury was Kamal Hachkar.
01:23But I know that it has evolved, or it has evolved in terms of candidacy to participate,
01:28in terms of partnership.
01:30How did it evolve and how do people trust this young festival today,
01:37which deals only with short films?
01:39You have to be very, very precise.
01:41It's the short film.
01:42Yes, Kamal Hachkar is one of our sponsors.
01:44And you know, the Marrakech Short Film Festival is really a family format.
01:49And suddenly, it is a sponsor that attracts a sponsor.
01:52It is a marine that attracts a marine.
01:54And what we are really proud of at the Marrakech Short Film Festival
01:59is our seriousness, our commitment to the young community of Moroccan directors.
02:05And also, we also aspire to support them.
02:09And also, we have had the respect and also the interest of professionals in the international field.
02:17Which allowed us to enlarge our family a little bit.
02:21And to have not only Kamal Hachkar, but also Nourdi Elkhmary, Maisa Emreibi, Nadia Kounda,
02:28Sofia Alaoui, Lamia Shreibi.
02:30These are really calibers.
02:32And even when we are at the international, we talk about these people who carry the flag of Morocco
02:37at the highest level.
02:39And we are still very proud of it.
02:41And the Marrakech Short Film Festival is really an event of the short film industry.
02:46We deal with the production, we deal with the accompaniment of the young people.
02:51And I think it is these little ingredients that make this festival what it is.
02:57And that keep the trust with our sponsors and our family of the festival.
03:04So, Rami Abdel-Adel, you were at Qatar, which has become, through the foundation,
03:09I think, one of your partners.
03:12Because it is the year of Morocco at Qatar.
03:16You were in this framework.
03:18What are perhaps the partnerships that you would like for your next edition?
03:23I hope you will give us the dates that you would like to see develop
03:28to allow a greater number of young directors to make their dreams come true
03:34and to shoot a first, a second or a third short film.
03:39You know, when we finish a festival, an edition, we are already starting to work on the next one.
03:45This year, we have just returned from Doha, where we presented a selection of short films.
03:50We accompanied young directors who took the first step out of Morocco,
03:55who were on a plane for the first time.
03:58We presented a festival, a program called Made in Morocco.
04:02The Qatari public and the public of the festival of HGL discovered these short films.
04:09And the partnerships with Doha, with Doha Film Institute,
04:14and especially in the context of the Morocco Qatar Year of Culture,
04:19it was a really good partnership for both countries.
04:22Because the two countries now know each other more or less cinematographically,
04:27but in the context of young people, because we were also in a festival of young people.
04:31And what is good is that there are discussions to continue this partnership.
04:36We are establishing an archive program, we are establishing an education program.
04:41And we are also seeing a partnership with an organization that I cannot name.
04:48But it is also something to become for 2025.
04:51It is a partnership in relation to parity,
04:55and also to the position and presence of women in the industry, but especially in short films.
05:01Maybe one last question.
05:03Ramia Abdel-Hadel, President and Founder of Marrakech Short Film Festival.
05:07So 2025, do you have dates?
05:09Are you celebrating the 5th anniversary?
05:11So I imagine it will be the celebration of the short film in 2025 here in Marrakech.
05:19What can you tell us about your 5th edition?
05:21The 5th edition is 5 years, it is already a baby that is walking.
05:26And we are very happy.
05:28And really, Alhamdulillah, the festival really accomplishes very beautiful things.
05:37And for 2025, we will have an international competition, which we did not have.
05:43And for 2025, the date will always be the same, it is the last Friday of September.
05:48A week of short films, of open-air cinema, in emblematic places of Marrakech.
05:53And with really people and guests of caliber.
05:57Ramia Abdel-Hadel, thank you very much for accepting our invitation.
06:01I remind you that you are the President and Founder of Marrakech Short Film Festival.
06:06Thank you very much for accepting our invitation.
06:08I remind you, as you just said, that during the last week of September,
06:12it will be the 5th edition.
06:15And Mediun TV, of course, will accompany this festival as usual.
06:19Thank you, dear viewers, for your loyalty.
