00:00What's going on everybody? My name is Rashad Frette. I'm the co-writer and director for
00:10the feature film Ricky, premiering in the U.S. dramatic film category at 2025 Sundance
00:16Film Festival. Based off my previous short film with the same title, we go even further
00:21into following the next offender after 15 years of incarceration and seeing how they
00:26struggle with new freedom. While saving up for his very first car as an adult, Ricky
00:31must adhere to the confines of his parole while navigating the harsh realities of his
00:35new life. This film is personal to me as it was inspired by watching friends and family
00:39members struggle post-incarceration, trying to get a job and getting turned away constantly.
00:45We shot this film in a way to give the audience a visceral perspective through the eyes of
00:48an ex-offender who's trying to catch up in life after 15 years on the inside while trying
00:54not to violate his parole. Thanks for watching and I hope to see you at Sundance.
