00:08the U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines, Mary Kay Carlson, has the first news, J.P. Soriano.

00:19The year 2024 is considered to be a historic year for the relationship between the United States and the Philippines.

00:25This year, the first trilateral summit of the United States, Japan, and the Philippines was held in Washington.

00:32The assistance of the defense officials of the United States and the Philippines was followed.

00:37In these assistance, some of the more concrete actions and assistance of the United States were completed

00:42to ensure the freedom and safety of the South China Sea and the West Philippine Sea.

00:48As part of the U.S. Rotational Force Posture of the United States under the EDCA or Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement,

00:56according to the U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines, Mary Kay Carlson,

01:00the relationship between the United States and the Philippines in assisting in times of calamity has also become broader.

01:06We collaborated with the Philippine Office of Civil Defense to bring badly needed relief supplies to affected communities,

01:14including through our joint positioning efforts under the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement or EDCA.

01:21It is only surprising that Ambassador Carlson came from Japan,

01:24where he helped the officials of the Philippines and Japan for the trilateral maritime security meeting.

01:31This year, after the Philippine Senate approved the resolution to ratify the Reciprocal Access Agreement or RAA

01:40between Japan and the Philippines,

01:432024 will also be a historic year for the number of Filipinos who applied and processed U.S. visa applications.

01:53And we broke records also in our people-to-people ties,

01:57processing more visa applications this past year than ever before in the history of our relationship,

02:05and hosting the greatest number of Filipino students at U.S. higher education institutions in more than 15 years.

02:14Even if hundreds of Filipinos applied for a U.S. visa,

02:18the policy of incoming U.S. President-elect Donald Trump is clear.

02:23He will deport all illegal immigrants or so-called TNT to America.

02:30The Department of Foreign Affairs said that it will help the Philippines consulate in America

02:36the Filipinos who may be affected by President-elect Trump's immigration policy.

02:42I will say, however, that it is very clear that Filipinos in the United States, Filipino Americans,

02:50make great contributions to our economy, to our society.

02:54Carlson said in his first roundtable discussion in the Philippine media

03:00at the official residence of the U.S. Ambassador in Makati,
