00:00Do you see all those people out front? Who do you think they're here for?
00:04Welcome to WatchMojo! And today, we're counting down our picks for the most atrocious,
00:09unimaginative, and downright unwatchable selections cinema had to offer in
00:152024.
00:17This has to happen now! Don't judge me!
00:21Number 10. Rebel Moon Part 2. The Scargiver. The Scargiver has come to us.
00:30No. But we have men on the ground.
00:34Yes.
00:36A few less mouths to feed.
00:38Zack Snyder was once celebrated for his bold cinematic style.
00:42But over the years, that signature flair has been beaten to death,
00:47resulting in the chaotic mess that is the Rebel Moon saga. While the first installment was at least watchable,
00:54the 2024 sequel committed the ultimate cinematic crime. It was boring.
00:59I've never been one for making confessions.
01:07Now we know what each of us must do.
01:12You're all here.
01:13Because I want you to know who the hell you're fighting with.
01:16The actors seemed barely invested, and the cringy,
01:20exposition-filled dialogue is enough to make your ears bleed. Sure, Snyder's director's cut was a slight improvement,
01:27but if you need a post-release fix every time you put out a movie,
01:31then you might want to rethink your approach. Packed with slow motion, lazy writing, and gratuitous violence,
01:38this sci-fi epic may be full of death, but it's solely lacking in life.
01:44Do not speak of me when you speak of honor and bravery.
01:49I've lied to you.
01:52To all of you.
01:53Number 9. Regan.
01:55And so we must be vigilant,
01:57and make ourselves aware of others that may seek to use our platform, to use us,
02:04for their own purposes.
02:05Biopics are a surefire way to generate Oscar buzz, but only when done right.
02:11Needless to say, this portrayal of Ronald Regan falls far below that standard. While every great figure has flaws,
02:18Regan glosses over those of its subject entirely, opting instead for a sanitized,
02:24one-dimensional hero worship.
02:26Well, if you think that got their undies in a wad, you just wait.
02:29By avoiding the very complexities that define the former president, the film sacrifices depth for idolization.
02:36The result is a movie that somehow feels rushed, despite spending years in development hell.
02:42Dennis Quaid does his best to channel Regan's charisma and eloquence,
02:47but it's not nearly enough to salvage the script. Fans of the former president might enjoy it,
02:52but if you're looking for a nuanced take on history, you won't find it here.
02:56You and I
02:59have a rendezvous with destiny.
03:03Number 8. Uglies.
03:06We'll still be ourselves, just...
03:09We'll just be better.
03:10There aren't a lot of beautiful things to say about this dystopian young adult adaptation.
03:15Arriving long after the peak of the young adult craze,
03:18Uglies transports us to a world where everyone undergoes life-changing cosmetic surgery at the age of 16 to achieve physical perfection.
03:27For a film that supposedly champions the value of living authentically,
03:31Uglies is one of the most derivative and artificial experiences you would ever endure.
03:36Wait, you set the fires?
03:38Those orchids are toxic. They pull all the nutrients from the soil and destroy everything in their path.
03:42No, those are the clean solution to the oil that the Rustys used.
03:46That's what they want you to believe.
03:48Those flowers are turning the planet into a wasteland,
03:50killing everything, forcing everyone to live in the city.
03:53It relies on overused tropes, fails to do any substantial world-building,
03:58and wastes its talented cast on a highly contrived plot.
04:03We'd love to say it has some substance beneath the surface, but unfortunately,
04:07the inside is just as hollow as its outward appearance.
04:11Please let me make this right.
04:14I don't trust you.
04:16You don't have to trust me.
04:19You just have to follow me.
04:21Number seven, The Crow.
04:23I saw you.
04:24Huh?
04:25In the club.
04:26You brought them to us.
04:27No, no, I was just trying to get around. I was just trying to help her get away, man.
04:30Get away from what?
04:311994's The Crow was a massive hit, even amid the tragic death of Brandon Lee on set.
04:38So the creators of this reboot had some seriously big shoes to fill.
04:42Were they able to improve on the original? Well,
04:45quite the opposite. Even with such a talented actor as Bill Skarsgård in the lead,
04:50The Crow comes immediately dead on arrival, offering no spark to justify its resurrection.
04:56Even if you save her,
04:58you will never be with her again.
05:03I know.
05:08Now let me do this.
05:10The emotional punch of the original is missing, and the two leads,
05:14Skarsgård and singer FKA Twigs have as much chemistry as oil and water. While there are some interesting stylistic choices,
05:22there's nothing that would make you choose this version over the original.
05:26Simply put, The Crow should have been left to rest in peace.
05:31Look at what you've become.
05:35Those eyes.
05:37That face.
05:43Why would you want to be with you? You have no love left, only hate.
05:50Number six, Megalopolis.
05:53I'm not concerned with my place in history.
05:58What I am concerned about is time, consciousness, and courage.
06:03Courage?
06:05But what is time?
06:08Except a curve
06:10past and future around us.
06:12Oscar-winning filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola poured decades of effort and 120 million dollars of his own money to make
06:20Megalopolis. Surely, with that much on the line, it must be a masterpiece, right?
06:26You can probably guess the answer. Megalopolis aims for the stars with its grand themes,
06:32but falls flat trying to weave them into a coherent narrative. You and I ought to have an understanding.
06:38You're on my territory now,
06:40and you're gonna play by my rules.
06:42While the cast boasts powerhouse names, their performances are so all over the place that watching just one sequence feels like
06:50jumping between five different films. And even with a budget nearing 150 million dollars,
06:56the visual effects still look like something straight out of Spy Kids.
07:00Coppola is undeniably one of Hollywood's most ambitious directors, but sadly, his glory days may well be behind him.
07:08You find me cruel,
07:10selfish, and unfeeling? I am.
07:12I work without caring what happens to either of us. So go back to the club,
07:17bear it all, and stalk the kind of people that you enjoy. Fine.
07:21Number five, Harold and the Purple Crayon. Well, of course, it's different, buddy.
07:27It's a different world. It's the real world. It's an adventure. That's kind of fun, right?
07:32This 2024 mix of live action and animation reimagines the beloved 1955 children's book by
07:40turning the titular Harold into an adult man played by Zachary Levi. Armed with his magical crayon,
07:47Harold draws himself a door into the real world, only to find it odd and confusing.
07:52Perhaps the only thing that can rival Harold's confusion is ours, and how utterly uninspired and lifeless this
07:59adaptation is. For a story that celebrates the power of imagination,
08:03Harold and the Purple Crayon fails at being imaginative.
08:07Enjoy!
08:10I am getting really good at that.
08:13Instead, it drains the source material of all its charm, leaving behind a dull sketch of a plot and a performance from Levi
08:20that's more grating than heartwarming. Anyone got a crayon to help us escape this mess? Now, they'll see what Library Gary is capable of.
08:29Oh, Gary, that's not what the crayon is for. You're supposed to use it to make people happy.
08:33Number four, Argyle. What you wrote in your new manuscript actually happened, but it wasn't Argyle.
08:40It was me. Some movies seem like brilliant ideas on paper, but end up translating horribly on screen.
08:47Argyle is one such film.
08:49The spy caper follows a reclusive author who realizes that her fictional spy novel mirrors a real covert operation.
08:56It's a fantastic premise, especially with Matthew Vaughn, the visionary director behind the Kingsman franchise at the helm.
09:03However, in an attempt to spoof the spy genre, Argyle fumbles the punchline and becomes the butt of its own joke.
09:10Why are we here? Because, Ellie Conway,
09:14it's time for you to meet the real
09:17Agent Argyle.
09:19Vaughn would have done well to embrace the less is more mantra, as each over-the-top twist and silly trope only drag the film
09:27further downhill. By the end, the only thing that has been successfully stolen is your time, and maybe your dignity for sitting through it.
09:35Wanna dance?
09:37Oh, man.
09:39I thought you'd never ask.
09:41Number three, Joker Fully Ado.
09:44I never saw that side of you.
09:45Well, maybe you weren't looking.
09:48Maybe no one was.
09:49Because nobody
09:51knew I existed.
09:53But look around, look at all these people,
09:56everyone outside, these cameras.
10:00Who do you think they see, Mr. Puddles?
10:032009's Joker redefined the comic book movie genre, raking in over one billion dollars and earning Joaquin Phoenix
10:11an Oscar. Naturally, expectations were sky-high for the sequel, especially with Lady Gaga joining the cast.
10:17But whatever fans envisioned was thrown out the window for a chaotic
10:22mishmash of genres that felt more like a bloated epilogue than a proper movie.
10:27Chasing around this million-dollar chicken coop
10:39Instead of building on the original, director Todd Phillips crammed a courtroom drama, jukebox musical,
10:45twisted romance, and social satire into one overstuffed script.
10:50Unsurprisingly, Joker Fully Ado
10:53collapsed under its own weight. Fans were outraged. Producers bled millions.
10:58But if it helps deter studios from such lazy cash grabs in the future, we'll count that as a small victory.
11:05They don't care as long as they're
11:08Is it just a
11:11Just a fool as foolish as he can be
11:17Be
11:20Number two Borderlands
11:23Look, uh, this has been a really long day. Can we just skip to I don't know whatever this is?
11:29Adapting video games for the big screen is a notoriously difficult task. Borderlands fans who were hoping that the
11:362024 film adaptation would break the curse were left sorely disappointed. Borderlands is a wannabe guardians of the galaxy with
11:45Nowhere near as much wits or hearts. Where guardians excelled with sharp humor and stunning visuals,
11:51Borderlands is chock full of cringeworthy dialogue, paper-thin characters, and zany action sequences that grow tiring rather quickly.
12:01What are you doing? I needed a gun. So you asked for it, Tannis. Ask. Move.
12:06Behind the scenes, the film reportedly endured multiple riders, post-production chaos, and even reshoots with a different director.
12:14All of which are painfully evident in the final cut.
12:18Considering its cast of Oscar-winning talents,
12:20we wonder if any of them actually read the script before signing on. But you're prepared to take that risk. Well, we have no choice.
12:28Either we take her
12:30or Atlas does.
12:33There is no salvation without sacrifice. Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
12:40Or in this case,
12:41dishonorable mentions. Miller's Girl. This creepy erotic thriller would have been uncomfortable even 20 years ago.
12:48Miller is public enemy number one
12:52with the censors. I'm not even approved to teach him.
12:56So?
12:59So it would be like a controversial choice.
13:05If it's not controversial, it's not interesting.
13:08Pool Man. Chris Pine's directorial debut shows he's better before the camera than behind it.
13:14I need your help taking him down. Yes, yes, yes!
13:20Like, whoa, like undercover? Yes.
13:24Uh...
13:27Am I really trying? Can I get back to you? Night Swim. Barely enough of a plot here to fill a kiddie pool.
13:33There's something wrong with that pool.
13:35Eve, there's nothing wrong with the pool. The pool's fine.
13:40The pool's the greatest thing to ever happen to me.
13:42The Strangers Chapter One. Sometimes it's best to let sleeping dogs lie and beloved horror films
13:50lie. Is Tamara here?
13:55No.
13:57I think you have the wrong home. Lift. Even diehard Kevin Hart fans won't find this formulaic heist film funny.
14:04They really love you.
14:10I mean, what's not to love?
14:12What did it take you, like a week? Oh my god.

14:29To see the future clearly, you have to heal the wounds of your past.
14:33That sounds like literally every therapy session I've ever avoided. You have to go back to your beginning.
14:39Even before hitting theaters, this movie was already a cultural punching bag, thanks to its absurd trailer.
14:44You'd think it couldn't get worse, but the actual film somehow managed to sink even lower. I am so pressing charges.
14:52Okay, knock yourself out.
14:54Centered around Cassie Webb, a clairvoyant trying to protect three women from a villain seeking to exploit their powers,
15:00Madam Webb is so shockingly bad, it's hard to believe it's actually real.
15:04It's nearly two-hour runtime presents nothing more than exposition dumps, dreadful visual effects, and lousy action sequences that the actors
15:13clearly aren't even taking seriously. It's hardly surprising that it was a film that was so well-received by so many people.
15:18It's nearly two-hour runtime presents nothing more than exposition dumps, dreadful visual effects, and lousy action sequences that the actors
15:22clearly aren't even taking seriously. It's hardly surprising that it was co-written by the same geniuses behind 2022's Morbius.
15:28We'd call it the worst comic book movie ever, if it wasn't just so forgettable.
15:33You still can't beat me with your mind.
15:38What makes you so sure?
