00:00Just like his mom, the president was raised and escaped in the arts and humanities.
00:05And no better proof of his love for music and the performing arts
00:08than the number of live performances or concerts held in the palace grounds this year.
00:13Much like this last one, dubbed Concierto Sa Palacio,
00:16that PTV's Alan Francisco dwells on in this story.
00:30Stars dazzled in Malacañang on a night to pay tribute to the local film industry.
00:42The Malacañang stage shone bright last night as the 5th edition of Concierto Sa Palacio
00:48brought together iconic celebrities and rising stars from television and film.
00:52With a theme, Para sa Pelikulang Pilipino,
00:55the event served as a pre-holiday celebration honoring the significant contributions
01:00of the Philippine film industry in shaping the nation's arts and culture.
01:04President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos
01:08led the celebration, aiming to recognize the role films play in preserving and promoting Filipino heritage.
01:14The event also marked the 50th anniversary of the Metro Manila Film Festival or MMFF
01:20as a show of support for the 10 feature films slated for the Christmas season release and exhibition.
01:26It is an honor for our industry to recognize our contribution to society.
01:33In every film we watch, it makes us happy or makes us cry.
01:40It is time for our fellow artists and producers
01:47to deliver high-quality products.
01:51In 2020, the pandemic prevented traditional theatrical screenings of MMFF entries,
01:58making this year's return to the big screen even more significant.
02:01President Marcos, Jr. underscored the importance of supporting
02:05and reviving the film industry's vibrancy and impact.
02:08We appreciate this. This is a big help.
02:11Especially when the Filipino film industry is thriving.
02:14Whatever help we receive, we appreciate it.
02:16I'm happy that I feel the government's support in my craft.
02:21The 10 films to be featured include
02:24The Breadwinner, Strange Frequencies, Haunted Taiwan Hospital, Isang Himala, The Kingdom, Green Bones,
02:30and also My Future You, Hold Me Close, Uninvited, Topa Espantajo.
02:35It's a big thing that we know that the government supports us, especially our president.
02:41This is my first time here, and I'm just really happy that they really support Philippine cinema.
02:46The MMFF artists guaranteed this year's films will deliver joy,
02:51help shed tears, and world-class entertainment and production values to moviegoers this Christmas.
02:58We are new. We haven't been in the showbiz for that long.
03:03We will prove that we can work together,
03:06and we can deliver a quality film.
03:13Beyond entertainment, Filipino films play a crucial role in providing jobs and sustaining livelihoods
03:18for writers, directors, and creative workers, both in front of and behind the camera.
03:24It's really important that we give honor and importance to our film industry
03:30because it provides a livelihood for our Filipino countrymen.
03:35And this gives opportunities for our fellow Filipinos and the rest of the world
03:39to discover the beauty of our country and the talent of the Filipino people.
03:43It proves once and for all that this is one administration that does not just merely give lip service.
03:49It's not merely a set of promises.
03:51It's not merely reaching out to the Philippine film industry when there is something needed from the people of the industry.
03:58Here we see a deliberate and concentrated and concerted effort of the administration
04:05to really help the film industry which is in dire need of the support of the government.
04:10The event also celebrates Filipino talent by showcasing singers, dancers, and other performing artists
04:17who delivered memorable performances during the concert.
04:20The concert at the Palace is an initiative of the Office of the President
04:24in collaboration with the Radio-Television Malacanang or RTVM
04:27highlighting the administration's continuing support for the arts and local entertainment industry.
