00:00Yeah, you're scary. You're scaring me.
00:04Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most talked about horror
00:09movies set to arrive in 2025 that already have us on the edge of our seats.
00:14There's just certain elements of our life that we just don't understand
00:16or are never going to understand. I find that really exciting.
00:21Number 10. The Conjuring Last Rites.
00:24It would mark the end of an era, and what an incredible era it has been.
00:27Since its debut in 2013, The Conjuring universe has become the highest-grossing
00:32horror franchise in history, spawning eight films and counting. The upcoming ninth installment,
00:37The Conjuring Last Rites, will conclude the main series,
00:40although several spinoffs and their sequels are still in development.
00:44He says it's an emergency.
00:53Yes, Father. How can we help?
00:56While plot details remain under wraps, the film will see the return of Patrick Wilson and
01:01Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren, tackling yet another chilling case of paranormal activity.
01:07Nice timing.
01:10And if we can, then he'd like to meet with us tomorrow.
01:14There's a case in Long Island he'd like to discuss.
01:16Really?
01:17Directed by Michael Schavs and co-written by David Leslie Johnson-Nagoldrick,
01:21who both worked on 2021's The Conjuring, The Devil Made Me Do It,
01:25this finale seems to be in capable hands.
01:28Ed and I have proven the existence of the demonic hundreds of times.
01:31You've proven it to the church. This is a court of law. The standards of evidence
01:36are completely different.
01:37The court accepts the existence of God every time a witness swears to tell the truth.
01:42I think it's about time they accept the existence of the devil.
01:459. Final Destination – Bloodlines
01:48It's been over a decade since the last Final Destination hit theaters,
01:52so naturally, anticipation for the return of the franchise is through the roof.
01:56You can't cheat death. There are no escapes.
02:00The sixth installment, Final Destination – Bloodlines, brings back the unseen yet
02:04relentless antagonist, death itself, but with a twist that promises to shake up the usual formula.
02:10Some people say there's a balance to everything.
02:13For every life, there's a death. For every death, there is a life.
02:18But the introduction of life that was not meant to be, that can invalidate the list.
02:23This time, the story centers around a young woman whose grandmother cheated death decades earlier,
02:28leaving her and her family in the path of its inevitable wrath.
02:31It is set to feature a fresh cast of characters, while serving as a farewell
02:35to late series veteran Tony Todd in his iconic role as William Bloodworth.
02:40Death doesn't like to be cheated.
02:45Excuse me?
02:47What's that supposed to mean?
02:53You are home.
02:54Just be careful now.
02:56As always, we look forward to seeing just how creatively this movie will, well, kill it.
03:01Number 8. The Monkey
03:02Filmmaker Osgood Perkins made a strong impression with his 2024 horror thriller
03:08Long Legs, establishing himself as a rising star in the genre.
03:12A knock-knock on the farmhouse door. A nice lady with a Bible and a gift.
03:18Congratulations, you have been selected. You may now collect your gift from the church.
03:24With such momentum, Perkins seems to be wasting no time,
03:27as his next project, The Monkey, is due for release in February 2025.
03:32The film stars Theo James in dual roles as twin brothers Hal and Bill,
03:36who face off against a cursed toy monkey once owned by their father.
03:41It is not only directed by the confident horror auteur, but also based on a Stephen
03:45King short story and produced by James Wan, a modern master of the genre.
03:50This collaboration brings together three generations of horror,
03:53and promises to deliver a chillingly unforgettable experience for audiences worldwide.
03:59It's a goddamn mess in there.
04:00Have you been up there?
04:02It's like that restaurant. Spaghetti City.
04:05Number 7. Talk to Me
04:07One of the most original horror films that hit screens in 2022 was the low-budget Australian
04:12gem Talk to Me. Despite being made for under $5 million, the film earned rave reviews for
04:18its impressive practical effects, stellar performances, and genuinely terrifying scares.
04:2383 seconds, Josh. Get it open.
04:25I'll split ya.
04:26All right, do it or not.
04:27I'll split ya. I'll split ya.
04:30By the end of its theatrical run, it had grossed over 20 times its budget,
04:34a success that practically guaranteed a sequel.
04:37I am ending this.
04:39You can't thank him.
04:43Scheduled for release sometime in 2025, the follow-up, Talk to Me, will once again be
04:48directed by twin filmmakers Danny and Michael Filippo, with a screenplay by Danny and Bill
04:53Heintzman, the writers behind the first film. By all indications, this will be another project
04:58that will give moviegoers a lot to talk about.
05:01We went up to Ari Aster to apologize to him after the movie.
05:03I literally got up to say, I'm so sorry you got dragged here because of all this hype for
05:07no reason. I went to apologize to him. So I walked up to him. I'm like, bro, I'm so sorry
05:11that... And he's like, that was amazing.
05:13Number six, Megan 2.0. With the rise of artificial intelligence and humanoid robots,
05:18it was only a matter of time before horror filmmakers jumped in with their own twisted
05:22take. 2022's Megan brought our worst fears to life, introducing an AI robot that gains
05:28self-awareness and becomes a deadly machine.
05:31Let go.
05:31You need to learn some manners, Brandon. You know what happens to bad boys that don't mind
05:37their manners? They grow up to be bad men.
05:41If you thought the murderous viral dancing android was done for, think again. Megan 2.0
05:46is coming in 2025 with an upgraded version. The sequel will once again be written by Akayla
05:52Cooper and directed by Jared Johnston, with Alison Williams and Violet McGraw reprising
05:56their roles.
05:57Jesus Christ, I thought we were friends.
05:59How could you just discard me like some cheap dollar store trinket?
06:03Because you killed people.
06:05Oh, big whoop.
06:06While plot details are scant, producer James Wan has expressed confidence in the story's
06:11direction. Here's hoping the new update is just as terrifying, if not more.
06:16What are you doing?
06:17Shhh.
06:25Number 5. The Black Phone 2.
06:272021's The Black Phone was an unexpected box office success.
06:31It's covered in blood. It's like I killed someone. You see that?
06:38The horror film follows a young boy abducted by a serial killer who uses a phone in his
06:43basement to communicate with the ghosts of the killer's past victims and plot his escape.
06:47I miss you, Robin.
06:50Then get out for me. Use what we gave you.
06:55I will.
06:56Although it seemed like a one-and-done story, the film's commercial success led producers
07:01to greenlight a sequel, which will arrive just in time for Halloween 2025. It's unclear what
07:07direction the plot will go, but director Scott Derrickson has teased that Joe Hill, Stephen King's
07:11son and the author of the short story the film was based on, pitched a terrific idea for the sequel.
07:16Given the King's reputation for crafting compelling horror, we can expect something
07:21truly unforgettable.
07:22I like making movies with people who are excited to make movies. It's a collective
07:27imagination. Scott's communicating to all of us exactly what our job is,
07:33and that's being a good filmmaker.
07:35Number 4. Wolfman.
07:37With 2020's The Invisible Man, horror filmmaker Lee Winnell proved that he is truly capable of
07:43breathing new life into a classic tale to deliver a spine-tingling experience for fans.
07:48Now, he hopes to do the same with 2025's Wolfman.
07:51Hey, no, no, no. Don't move.
07:54Climb up through the window right there. You can do it.
07:57A reboot of the 1941 gothic horror film The Wolfman, it'll star Christopher Abbott and
08:02Julia Garner as a couple whose lives take a terrifying turn after they're attacked by a
08:06werewolf.
08:07We were attacked.
08:12I think my husband was infected.
08:15Having spent over a decade in development hell, the film is set to land in January 2025,
08:21promising to kick off the year with a chilling start.
08:24With body horrors making a comeback in Hollywood,
08:27anticipation is high for Winnell's unique take on the genre.
08:30Hurry, mommy, he's coming.
08:32Number 3. Saw 11.
08:34We all have free will.
08:36Gabriella had her own free will.
08:40And if you can't handle this, how will you handle the rest of our work?
08:43Before the release of its 10th installment in 2023, the Saw franchise had begun to lose its
08:48edge, with many of the preceding films receiving largely negative reviews. However, Saw X was
08:55widely praised as a return to form, with some even ranking it higher than the first film.
08:59Following its success, a sequel was quickly announced, set for release in September 2025.
09:05Mr. Kramer, I meant no harm.
09:11I would really like to believe you, Gabriella.
09:18You'll have a chance to prove yourself.
09:20Not much is known about the plot for now, but Tobin Bell will reprise his role as Jigsaw,
09:25and Kevin Groydert, the director of Saw X, will also be returning.
09:29Will this new installment continue the storyline of the 10th film,
09:32or follow up on the lukewarm 2021 entry Spiral? We'll just have to wait and see.
09:38John, please. Please don't kill me.
09:42That's the last thing that you should be worried about.
09:46Now, I want to play a game.
09:51Number 2. 28 Years Later.
09:53In 2002, a then-unknown Cillian Murphy starred in 28 Days Later as a bicycle courier who wakes
09:59from a coma to find a world ravaged by a virus that turns people into killers.
10:04I bought her.
10:12Are you okay?
10:13The film became an unexpected hit and is widely credited with reviving the zombie genre.
10:18Now, over two decades later, Murphy is returning to the franchise in the aptly-titled sequel 28
10:24Years Later. Even more, the installment will also feature the return of director Danny Boyle
10:29and screenwriter Alex Garland.
10:31Alex has an idea.
10:33That's kind of enough. Alex Garland has a good idea, then we're in, right?
10:37Yeah, and Danny, I think Danny directing it is just huge, so watch this space.
10:43The film is set to deliver a dystopian summer experience when it hits theaters in June 2025.
10:49Fortunately, fans won't have to wait long for more, as a follow-up,
10:52helmed by Candyman director Nia DaCosta, is already in development.
10:57I'm having the most amazing time working with him and kind of seeing what we're
11:01filming on set, and it's so distinct and unique and is an incredibly playful environment that
11:08I'm just, like, really soaking up at the minute. So yeah, I think people are going to be pleased.

11:301. Frankenstein
11:32If there's one story acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro has
11:36long dreamed of adapting for the big screen, it would be Frankenstein.
11:40I think my fuse got lit in childhood by a double combo of Pinocchio and Frankenstein,
11:47which I saw very short one after the other, and they fused in my mind very much.
11:53After years of languishing in development hell, the project was eventually fast-tracked in 2023
11:58when del Toro signed a multi-year production deal with Netflix. This adaptation of Mary
12:03Shelley's legendary horror novel will feature Oscar Isaac as the titular doctor and Jacob
12:08Elordi as his monstrous creation, with supporting performances from Christoph Waltz, Mia Goth,
12:13and Lars Mikkelsen. In November 2024, fans got their first glimpse into this world,
12:18with an image of Frankenstein's laboratory shared by Vanity Fair.
12:22It's alive! It's alive! It's alive! It's alive! It's alive!
12:29The dark, gothic aesthetic is any indication. We are in for a
12:32richly Miltonian reimagining of the timeless classic.
12:36This guy greets everybody as they come in the door. That's obviously Boris Karloff.
12:40If you are a real Frankenstein geek, you know this is the first movie.
12:44Which of these horror flicks are you most excited to see in 2025? Let us know in the comments below.
12:50Well, I gotta say the kitchen's kind of disappointing.
12:52It is. The scariest thing are what is in the fridge.
